Pregant dog with diarrhea normal? My maltese is going to have puppies in 1-2 weeks. (I do not know the exact date of breeding). She has had an x-ray at the vets 2 days ago. She is going to have 4 puppies. The vet said everything looked ok, and the puppies looked fine. I am going to call the vets when they open, but could of the car ride caused this? Is this something I should be worried about? Any advice?

The stress of going to a vet can cause a dog to get diarrhea or perhaps she picked something up at the vets. Does she get scared or stressed when riding in a car or when she is at the vets? You can give her a teaspoon of pure canned pumpkin a couple times a day and that might help. If the diarrhea does not clear up soon or if it turns bloody then she should see a vet. Good luck with your upcoming whelping.

Are you 100% sure she's due in 1-2 weeks? Mine had loose stools when she went into labor.
