| Housing stud dogs? One thing I have always been curious about - what type of life does the average stud dog have? I am just curious how you deal with the marking - are your dogs able to live a "normal life" in the house or do you find you need to keep them in a pen most of the time to save your house? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | my Stud only marks if another intact male comes in the house while one of my 2 intact females is in heat, other than that he is pretty good with not marking.. I was out of luck this week l had both girls in heat and my friend had to stop by with her intact pomeranian,so Harry boy marked the dust ruffle of my bed.. so he wound up wearing a belly band and will be wearing one until the girls are done in a week or so...and all this happen while i secuester the girls in the second floor..LOL |

| I don't normally have an issue with marking unless another male comes into the house or even a strange female. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I have 2 beautiful studs that don't cause any problems unless there is a girl in heat in the house. The girls go to a girl friends until it is time to bred one of them and then they are bred at my friends--again keeping the competition down between the boys. |

| A wonderful life as in home companions. My altered male is my marker...he wear a belly ban when visiting other people. Some people do use belly bans but it's about training. Why on Earth would anyone keep a dog in a pen to save their house and then consider this an acceptable breeding practice? As I said just above it's my altered male home is my marker, he lives in my house it took a bit of training it's a behavioral issue.

I dont believe in crates or cages so that is not an option for me. If and when needed, I will gate them in a seperate area when I don't want to breed my girl, but they do wear a belly band and run the house freely. | |
