Yep like saying oh I would do anything for my dog and in the next breath where can I get the cheapest care because I don't want to pay that much. I am going to bed. |
I understand everyones frustration but at the same time no one starts off as an experienced breeder, we all have to Start off some where. Also it is very easy to take what someone posts he wrong way. I personally joined this site because 8 months ago I took in a 3 year old yorkie. I have loved every moment spent with her and I would love to breed her. I can think of anhing better then bringing more joys into the world.I would like to use this site as another source or information, obviously not my only source. But after reading what I have On this posting and others I personally feel like this isn't quite the place for me. I would like others to share in my excitment and help out other than detour me. |
My eyes hurt. Some ppl need to use punctuation and split up their thoughts/ramblings into paragraphs. It really does not help my astigmatism. *does not compute* lol |

Find a mentor, learn the standard inside out, take classes in genetics and whelping, have your mentor teach your first hand how things should be done, then and only then do you acquire breeding dogs, attempt your first breeding, and whelp puppies with your mentor by your side just in case you need someone that knows more than you there to help. If you choose to ignore this good sound advice, that's your choice. Just know that if you do ignore the advice, your chances of really screwing up the life of your little girl and her babies grows exponentially. |

But if you decide to continue in the direction your going then you do so at the risk of your female. As far as people having to start from somewhere. Well me personally I have only been breeding for a few years but I did research, talked to breeders, and helped out with the whelping of several litters that was from 2000 to 2007. I purchased my first female in 2006 had my first litter late 2007. Lost a litter in 2008 watched my female attack one of her pups from the previous litter, took any and all advice to try and get control of the situation but nothing helped. I had to rehome her to an only dog home. I cried for a week. I saved my money up and bought another female Showed her in AKC and UKC shows. She had her first litter last year. And she is hopefully expecting a litter in August. So please pardon me if I don't share in your excitement or agree with your reasoning. |

Attending shows, learning the breed inside and out, studying canine gentics, reproduction, whelping, raising a litter. Studying pedigrees, finding a great mentor. Obtaining the best breeding stock from a reputable breeder (usually the one that will be your mentor). This takes years of studying before embarking embarking on such a serious journey. |
>:-\ nice...very grown up...and nice. |
You know what....YOU started this thread. Poor, poor pitiful you. Getting your feelings hurt because you were rude to some ppl on here who came here for advice and they got upset with your rudeness. Boo~hoo. This is all quite hypocritcal and ridiculous. Congratulations for taking what was intended to be a useful and "friendly" website and using it to toot your little horns and make fun of others. I mean really!....You all make fun of the way ppl spell and puncuate on here for crying out loud. Who do these ppl think they are???? Go find or create a website that is "Just for Breeders". Then you can all stay on there all day and pat each other on the back for evidentally being so fabulous at what you do....never making any mistakes or saying anything that isn't right out of a textbook. Too bad we weren't all around to watch you make your mistakes in the beginning. Remember that it's not always WHAT you say....but HOW you say it. I think I'm done with this place. |

Her post was out of frustration on those that embark on a journey of breeding yorkies without taking into consideration that these are loving little creatures. Putting their dogs into harms way. These people post on an "open forum", their inexperienced plans of something they plan or have done with expecting to obtain affirmation. And when they don't get the affirmation, they are upset. Again, this forum is here for everyone, if you don't like a subject matter, move on to one that you do. But, when it comes to the passion and love of a yorkie, don't expect people to stand by, keep quiet when there is abuse going on. Breeding without knowledge and experience is abuse. |
Maybe I shouldn't say anything because I'm only on here for a few weeks. But...in my opinion there are no stupid questions, just stupid answers. I can understand why ppl get all upset if someone jumps right into breeding without a clue, afterall it's living creatures. But if someone comes on here and has a question...well, just help out. The damage is done but don't make it worse by telling people how unresponsible they are to get the pup at 8 weeks or why in hell they want to breed and then those people are offended and disappear. Then I think it becomes to a "hit and try", inexperienced new owners or breeders do what they think might be good and definitely a lot of those poor pups will end up God knows where.... As I said, this is just me. And I tried to read it over and make sure there are no big spelling mistakes...lol.;) |

I could care less about spelling or punctuation and have never made fun of anyone for it so please don't insinuate that I have. There is a forum that is just for breeders and I have yet to see anyone being perfect at breeding. Apparently you didn't read my last post I did make mistakes and I posted it for basically the world to read. I don't post right out of a textbook I post about my own experiences and what should be the right way to go about things. I have said everything I have posted in a non confronting manner and even had to excuse myself when I got extremely irritated at a posting I read before I responded. I am sorry if you think I got my feelings hurt but I just want to let you know I have thicker skin than that. |

I would very much like a few posters to take a few phone calls at 1, 2 or 3 in the morning. Assisst in a whelp. Some calls are just to calm the nerves of a newbie breeder and some calls are identifying whelps that are going back and advising the breeder to get the vet. Yes, many of these calls are from YT members that for some reason or another have no mentor or because of a oops breeding they have no experience. Yes, alot of this goes on here at YT While we may be blunt in our answers to newbie wanna be breeders that don't listen to our advice. We never turn them away when it concerns the life of a dog. |
