We want to Stud!! Hi we live in Stockbridge Georgia and recently purchased our first Yorkie. Rosco is a year old now and ready to stud for the first time. He is registered with America's pet registry I check with the ACK and they said that this was the same thing, you may do the same if you wish. Our only requirements are that you live somewhere nearby an for pick of the litter. We would love to add another yorkie to our loving home. For more info and or pics please email us at sm_rogers@bellsouth.net

ACK or AKC Do you mean AKC when you wrote ACK..if so the AKC told you the American Pet Registry is the same as the AKC? You can not get a litter registered with AKC from a APR stud or dam...odd for them to say that and mislead you..best wishes.

re: Why would the AKC mislead me? They said that puppies could be registered. As long as I have family trees on both dogs.

Papers Let's sort it out...you say AKC told you that you can breed an APR registered male to a AKC registered female and register the pups as AKC? I do not believe it. It takes alot of legislation to change AKC rules...there has been nothing in the AKC Gazette about this..go to USABreeders.com forum These are mostly commerical breeders who are APR members. They left AKC because of the rules and regs..ask this same question to them. They know everything regarding rules and regs..it is their business.

I hope this doesn't sound offensive but have you thought it through about breeding your male? There is a little more to breeding than throwing 2 dogs together. Do you know what may happen and how to deal with it? For example, do you know if your male carrying any recessive genetic defect. Do you know if the female that your dog is going to mate is carrying any recessive defect. The puppies produced can have an array of genetic & birth defective and for those has ever had a defective puppy know how heartbreaking it can be. Okay, I know the one that has the female will worry more about it than you do but since you want a puppy from this breeding you should think about it. Do you know if the female is carrying any diseases that can pass to your dog through mating? Are you willing to take a chance exposing your male? Did you know that male dog that have been bred are more likely to mark? Do you know that stud dogs can become more aggressive. There are hundreds of things to think about. Things may work out perfectly fine but what if they didn't. What will you do? Are you okay with it? Anyway, it is something you may want to think about. This is just a word of advice. Good luck!
