| Help, My puppies don't eat dry dog food. My puppies are about 6 weeks old now. I've seperated them from their mom about a week. I let them stay with their mom only at night. Yet, the puppies rarely eat dry dog food. What should I do?

| I would not seperate them from Mom. It is still important for Mom to teach them many things as they develop. SHE will stop them from nursing on her own, but they really need her to teach them things like not biting.. etc. As for eating.. you should grind up the dry kibble to almost a powder and give it to them along with a seperate bowl of water. You can also mix a a can of goats milk to a can of water and add a little karo syrup to it. Then add a little of the milk mixture to the crushed up dry kibble. As they grow more.. slowly stop adding the milk mixture until they are eating just the kibble.

| When I got my Yorkie, she was feeding him moistened kibble. That's all. Not a brand I would choose, but moistening for them being so young make it easier to eat. |

| Is the kibble mixed with water? They won't eat much of the dry dog food for awhile, so it's best to add warm water, let it soak until soft. Don't use can dog food, as you don't want to change their food much...keeping the diet the same will keep them happy & well. Hope this helps!

Good advice. These pups are much to young, and much too small to be away from their mother all day. Why the big rush to seperate them from mom? As long as mom cooperates...the pups need both her and her milk for another 2 to 3 weeks...maybe more. You can offer moistened or ground up kibble mixed with puppy formula. But Mom should still be the main food supply at this early of an age.
