| Can anyone Help? I have a little pup who I noticed about 30 minutes ago had some discharge from its eye....and it looked swollen. I am assuming this is not normal.....have already called the vet but cant get in till 8am. Has anyone dealt with this before? (The pup is about two weeks old) Thanks!!!! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Having not bred before I've never dealt with eye problems on a puppy. But hopefully someone with experience will post soon. I do know with eye problems you definitely don't want to fool around, so it's good you're getting the pup to the vet.

| You can try a warm wet (wrung out - not much water) washcloth on it, making sure you do not get the pup wet. You do not want to cool the pup. That is about all you can do for now, since she is so young. Just keep it clean and keep everything sterile. So after you clean the eye with the warm cloth, then throw the cloth in the washer and use a new cloth for the next time. Sounds like she may have gotten it scratched by another pup. Be sure to take her in the morning to your vet to be sure and get it checked out. |

| To clean my pups eyes, I use cotton balls wrung out, then throw them away after cleaning one eye, so I don't have to worry about transferring any bacteria from one eye to another. I think if you keep the eye clean that the pup should be ok until tomorrow morning when you go to the vet.

| I'm happy to hear that you got her in and on meds. I hope it clears it up for her (and you). Hey, where are you in NE? Both of my kids were born there. One in Lincoln and the other in Omaha.
