Totally not attacking you here~what has happened is why we are always begging, preaching, encouraging for spay and neutering. You just NEVER know what might happen and when it does it can be bad........really bad :( Please call the vet first thing and INSIST that she be seen. If he cannot take you call another. It really is THAT important and could be life or death is not addressed immediately. |
I'm sorry to hear that you are going through so much at one time. I really don't have any advise but just wanted to say I will keep you, your partner and your little furbaby in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted. |

here are a few threads on the subject: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...alse+pregnancy http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...alse+pregnancy |
Ok I talked to my vet this morning And he said Monday was the soonest he could see her. He assured me there was no difference between today and monday, And that monday would actually be good, because since yesterday would have been around 21days since she couldve first been impregnated, And they need 25 days usally to hear the heartbeats on an ultrasound and theres a chemical they can test for in their blood also around the 25th day called relaxing or something like that. |

Hey, what did the vet say? |
Accidents happen were all human. I have a beautiful baby girl who was inbred her mom had a boy and the lady kept him and guess what They breed and i ended up with my baby, but she is pretty normal except she has bowed front legs but when i got her i didnt even relize them but they vet said she would be fine, and she has threw up yellow bile before as well but shes not pregnant. We also have a Honey who is a cocker spaniel and i got her fixed when she was breed and we had no problem what so ever. Hope this is helpful. Hope you partner gets well soon. |
I was coming back for an update and to see what the vet had to say. It sounds like you did everything you possibly could given the circumstances. Sometimes there are other issues that come up in life and we have to make do as best we can. Hopefully all will work out for the best and you got some good news today. Hope your partner is better...hang in there! |

From a breeder's standpoint, based on facts. Yes, there are breeders that accomplish breeding with inbreeding, but these are the very experienced breeder that want to establish what is wrong and what is right with line. As stated above you will definately bring out both qualities fast. But, this inbreeding is very, very rarely done. What most experienced breeders do is what is called line breeding. It is where you breed two dogs that have common ancestors, this is what we do to set type. As far as your girl being able to be impregnated while she is still showing color, yes it's possible. Keeping in mind that it is not the date she is bred, but when she ovulates. I have a girl that is very ready on her 2nd day of showing color and concieves every time. She is a bit too young, immature, and small to be a mother. She can be spayed at this point. But, the final decision is yours to make on what is best for your girl. She may very well be experiencing a false pregnacy. Another suggestion would be to have her examined by a repro vet. And keep in mind vets are for the most part general practioners...so, find one that is versed in the Toy Breeds. |
I hope everything is going well with your partner and Chloe. |
First off if your mom is positive they didn't tie, she may just be having a false pregnancy. They go through all the same symptoms as one that is pregnant including gaining weight and producing milk. I've had a few girls with false pregnancies. It also lasts the same amount of time as a real pregnancy. Only difference is no puppies in the end. Secondly for future reference, a belly band and diaper will not prevent pregnancy. These little ones can get around that very easily. Only way to prevent it is to keep them completely separated for the heat cycle. I'm sorry to hear your partner isn't well, I hope he has a full speedy recovery!! Keep us updated on what you find out about Chloe!! |
just checking for an update. I'm sure the OP has had a very emotional day. Sometimes we need time to process the options before we can come here and post. Maybe tomorrow...... In the meantime we can pray |
Update!!! First of all I would like to say thank you to everyone for your great advise, kind words, And understanding. I am very happy to tell everyone that were 90% sure Chloe is not pregnant. First the vet said she didn't even look pregnant to her. She said her nipples did appear to be a little swollen but that this was normal following her first heat cycle. As far as her gaining weight she has gained a little bringing her to just under 5lbs. But that is good and what we were hoping for as she was tiny (she was the runt of the litter). A ultrasound was done but nothing was found no heart beats..nothing. She did do blood work and we should get the results either today (which its already 3 so prob not) or tomorrow. There looking for a chemical called relaxin in her blood but she doesnt expect to find it...We are soooo relived. I am very happy. Sorry again I didn't get back sooner, I had a very trying day yesterday and Today has been very busy as well. But thank you all again for the support not only with Chloe but with my husband Joey. :D |
