as for me, no...not at all. as a breeder if i look-out for the best interest of the dog & buyer/family i believe that would hold-up in a court of law.

I plan to follow my Mini's Breeder way of selling - except I will not sell Mini's babies at 5 weeks as she does. But they will have their shots, no micro-chip, AKC Litter Registered (that's new and I don't know quite how it works), tails docked and dew claws removed at 3 days old and, dependent on who I sell to and size of puppy, I will not limit right to breed. Mini's Breeder knew I wanted to breed her with Mickey, and she helped me choose Mini as good breeding stock ~ I'll follow her lead.

I would think if you had signed papers agreeing to a sale there could be a lawsuit but
if it's just one persons word against another, I can't see how that would ever hold
up?? Don't know but I'd still refuse!!

Discrimination? Sued? No ... No more than the State Services to Children and Families or any other adoption agency gets sued for discrimination in choosing acceptable parents.

Good question. My excellent (20 year) Breeder in Modesto, CA told me she has raised her rates to $800 male and $900 female - from $750. Portland, OR start at about $1500! Los Angeles, CA look like $2500! I'll probably go with Mini's breeder rates ... higher for a tiny if I get one. But I'm in a very rural area on the South Coast of Oregon. We drove 10 hours to pick up Mini! I won't ship by air, but if I did it would mean a five hour drive to Portland.

Both Mini and Mickey (he's from San Diego County) are AKC registered from champion stock ... she's 5lbs and he's 3.5lbs ... she's stocky (good breeding stock) and he's much smaller, fine boned, beautiful long coat. So it's very exciting ... this first litter experience!

I'm not a breeder but when looking for Gus, I came accorss a very nice lady to had sold one of her puppies to one of her friends. Rosie, I will always remember Rosie! She was just a tiny little thing. At 10 monthes she was only 1.6 lbs. Anyway,,, her friends husband was a drinker. And was trying to get it under control. Well while on the phone with her friend she over heard her friends drunk husband yelling at Rosie and Rosie crying soon after him yelling. So she hung up the phone, went to the bank to pull out the money in the amount they had paid, went to thier house gave them thier money back and took Rosie back. She ended up keeping her and even though these people didn't have the puppy that long and she recued her, Rosie still is a very nervous and scarde dog and has a hard time with strangers especially men.

Yes I feel the breeder has every right! They have to make sure these precious babies to go right homes. I give good breeders alot of credit. It would be so hard for me to go though what they go though. the problems that can and do happen. Whelping, dead pups, sick pups, winging out potentail buyers. And most of all letting a puppy go. I couldn't do it! My hat's off you guys. :bravo:
