My mom used to raise miniature schnauzers when I was a kid. She turned people away all the time. She said she just got a feeling about people and if it was a bad one there was no way they were getting a puppy. |

We refuse anyone we feel just wants a status symbol;or that says "for my little girl to dress up and play dolls with"; |

that is funny you mention this subject. My sister was hinting about getting one of Ahia's puppies. I told her she couldn't buy one.. LOL. I meant it! she would not, (in my opinion) , be as good to a pet as I think she should be. I think there are plenty of loving homes out there where they will be treated like kings and queens with a happy and safe life. I don't want any of ours to be going to a home where they will not be safe and loved to the fullest. No amount of money would ever even tempt me to do that. |
Mercy me, I am like Pat. I have turned away many potential new parents. I require 2 interviews, except on a RARE occasion, and I also do a phone interview before they come to my home. If I think I might like a further interview, I have the entire household including any dog(s) come to be interviewed. I have made 1 exception to that...Sylvan was that exception. Anyhow, if they have come from a long distance, I let them see and relate to the puppy I am selecting for them and then, send them off to have a meal or something. That way, they can honestly discuss the pros and cons without feeling uncomf about me over-hearing them. When we arrange the first meeting I tell them "Just because you come to see the puppy it does not obligate you to buy and it certainly does not obligate me to sell!" I want that clear up front. Sometimes, a person will call in total sorrow because they have lost their Yorkie. I think people need a period to grieve and I tell them that. But, I also invite them to my house just for a Yorkie fix.. The only reason they get from me is that "I don't think my puppy and your family are a good match." My dogs are my concern and that human can look elsewhere and sometimes, I have helped them to find a suitable puppy.. |

I can not tell you all the types of flooring we had and replaced in the Maryland house..35 yrs of experince with floors. Once I was at the carpet store and the salesman asked what I was looking for.."I told him a carpet the color of dog pee." What finally worked was giving up and putting down vinyl or tile and area rugs where the dogs had freedom. Every December I would go to Sears and buy a couple reminents for these areas...wanted it nice and fresh for Christmas! LOL Once my husband dragged out the old area rug and left it in the driveway for the trash. It rained during the night and we had a stream of golden yellow pee running down the driveway...I know everyone must think I lived in a toliet, honestly,my house was clean and odor free, ask Whispersmom. The fact is when you breed dogs and have a house full, you learn to accept what you can not change or you go crazy. |
I often refuse to sell puppies . Sometimes peoples are mad at me . |
Breeder I still stay in contract with my wonderful breeder after eight years. I send pictures and remember her at Christmas and must have thanked her 10,000 times!!!! Just got an e-mail from her the other day. |

I am looking to replace my carpet as well. My two usually go on their pee pads, but sometimes will go in one of two "no-no" spots. They have just 2 places they go - not all over the house - but I am so tired of dragging the carept cleaner out and steam cleaning 3 times a week! Any suggestions on new flooring? Hmmm.. sounds like a good thread title! :) |
