Best of luck to LuckyLady and Precious today. You are so lucky to have a friend coming to give you support. My Jazz is due on April 28. She is getting really huge, I really think she will have them early as the male tends to not breed until really late in the cycle. My own male would have bred her about 5 days before the male we used did. So I really don't think I can go on dates with this pregnancy. We have our x-ray scheduled for April 20 but I told the vet that we would come next week instead if it looked like we were getting close. I am really excited about this litter, Jazz is my first home-bred champion and this is her first litter. Audrey |
I willing keep Halle and Jazz in my prayers also. You are so lucky to be close to Renee for help....I wish I lived in Nebraska! lol.....Yes when we get a male it would be Precious' hubby.....I know it would be difficult to monitoring him during her heat but atleast it only comes twice a year. |

When I spoke of a stud in the house being nerve-wracking I was thinking mostly of the days/weeks of barking, whining, and insisting on wanting to be with the female morning, noon, and night. Been there, done that. LOL  |

aww shucks I thought for sure when I came home there would be a thread with Halles new babes........... |
They're Here! 4 Attachment(s) I knew I took the day off from work for a reason. Okay, so nothing really happened until this evening, but it was still nice having the day off. This morning, Halle's lack of appetite and 98.6 temp was reason enough to merit not going into work. Friday's are my half days & I really didn't expect anything to happen that soon, but hey.......any reason to stay home I jump at the chance.:p Renee came over and sat with me all morning, & went home at lunch time seeing that Halle wasn't quite ready yet. Late this afternoon, I started seeing a change in Halle with her doing some wandering around in the bedrooms seemingly looking for something. So I decided it was time for she and I to set up camp in my room. She did some nesting and wandering, but at first it just seemed that she wanted out of the bedroom. After about an hour-hour and a half, I saw what I wondered if it was a contraction and soon after saw a very definite one. That's when I called Renee to come join me. Halle had her first puppy at 9:05pm, a 5 1/4 ounce little boy. He was very eager to nurse practically right out of the womb and had no trouble latching on. His nursing seemingly kept the contractions coming and Halle had baby boy #2 just 30 minutes later. This little guy came out back feet first and they were NOT in the sack! Luckily the contractions kept coming and with some gentle tugs with each contraction, we got the rest of him out, and he too had a healthy appetite right away and also weighed 5 1/4 ounces. Halle took a little rest after that and as we were tending the second pups' cord, Halle decided she wanted to join her first born in the holding basket. This basket isn't very big, but Halle managed to curl up in it with her boys. Renee and I both got a big kick out of that sight! See for yourself in the pictures below. Puppy #3 arrived at 10:15pm and came out head first perfectly enclosed in the bubble like we've seen on the many whelping websites. Halle kept her streak of boys going as this one too was a little male; he was just a tad smaller weighing 5 ounces even. That's 4 for 4 males, counting her singleton son Oscar from her last litter. Halle & her sons are getting acquainted and resting as I type this. Once again she did awesomely with the whelp and is being a wonderfully attentive mama. She's the best!!! For now, here are a few pics we took tonight. I hope to get more tomorrow or Sunday; some individual shots. When I do we will move to the nursery. Precious' c-section So Precious went in for her c-section yesterday. She had 2 girls and 1 boy. She was fine at the vet its once we got home my "fun" started. Well since Precious had not had anything to eat since sunday night I really wanted her to have a little something to so her sugars didnt get too low. But of course she wanted nothing to do with the food or water. Thank goodness for whelping pudding! A little later since she still wouldnt eat I gave her some scrambled eggs, she tried to inhale it. The pups wanted to nurse but Precious just wanted to stare and lick them. So with my hubbys help we got her to nurse...only at that point her milk hadnt fully come in. So I was also giving them the bottle to make sure the we're getting enough. I slept with Precious last night...I think between 10pm-5am I got an hour of sleep...but thankfully at 4am she ate some puppy food. And her milk came in a little before that. There is still one girl who doesn't latch on well so I have to help her....she is also the smallest so I am still giving her a little of the bottle to be sure and a little nutrical when she doesnt want to feed. I still have to give Precious water from the syringe to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated. I have a question....Precious loves the whelping pudding but I only give her about 2 spoonfuls at a time and I gave it to her twice yesterday. Can too much be bad or should I try to limit it to a certain amount unless critical? Again my pic is too big so I put it in the album. |

Congrats on your new babies |
X-rays for Jazz So I took my little Jazz for x-rays this morning. She is due April 23-28. Good news. She has three babies and thankfully they are all about the same size and not so large that she should have any problems delivering them. Of course, her little stomach was filled to the max with food. Trust Jazz never to miss a meal and fill her belly as full as it can get. She has gained a whole pound this past week. Total weight gain so far is two pounds.:D Audrey |
Congrats to Jazz. April is month of 3's! Im glad you wont have to have a c-section. It took precious 1 day to get into mommy mode after the c-section. That first day was heck for me. |
Hate to break the 3 trend but, just got back with Tink from x-ray and well... She has 1. :( I was really hoping for at least 2. But hey I'm still gonna be grand-fur-mommy! :D The vet did say she may have two and the little bugger is hiding. Can't decide if I should go for another x-ray next week or not. |

Audrey: 3 is a great number for a yorkie litter; good chances of the pups being not to big and not to small. Halle's trio all weighed right around 5 ounces at birth. peachbongi: Did you vet say anything about the size of the pup as far as whelping goes? Halle had a singleton her first litter. He was a whopping 6 3/4 ounces when he was born, but Halle (normal weight about 6 1/2-7 lbs) whelped him with no problems thankfully. I hope Tink's has a trouble free whelp too! |
