| Help~ need info on 3 things! Madison's babies are just 6 weeks old, but I need some direction on a few things.... 1 - Shots- From what I've been able to find out here, there are no vets that do shots by weight. I'm really scared to give them full doses all at once! The breeder I got Daddy from (not really a bad breeder, but not the best by a long shot) said she'd give them their shots. My only worry is that when they go to their forever homes the new vets will want to give them more shots... making it even worse for them! Thoughts??? 2 - Mom is letting them have "a snack" but they are mostly eating puppy food with goat milk right now. How long will her antibodies stay in their systems? (how long before I need to have their shots done?) 3 - Do any of you have "forms" or questions that you always ask. I did Greyhound rescue so I know a lot of them, but if I had them right there in front of me it'd make it better. Litte girl AKA Diva is going to be tiny to small......... My little Marky was a tiny (3.5#) and I know how much extra care he took so I'm going to be even more picky..if that is even possible! What about sale contracts to require spay/nuter?? Thank you so much for you thoughts! I love them so much....want to make sure I do this right!

| Your vet will give the proper dose....you can do a research if you would like to see what the proper dose is per weight. As long as the puppies are not in contact with other people and other dogs they will be fine, they still have momma. Do not vaccinate till 8-9 weeks. Research some area vets.

I'll answer your questins to the best of my ability. However, most of your questions should have been put forth way before you bred your pups. 1. Shot's: Google and read Dr Dodd's vaccination protocol. Shots should not be given before a pup is 8 weeks of age, doing so will supress mother's immunities[/B] If a vet wants to administer more innoculations.....have them find another vet. 2 - Mom is letting them have "a snack" but they are mostly eating puppy food with goat milk right now. How long will her antibodies stay in their systems? (how long before I need to have their shots done?) The reason mom is not allowing them to nurse readily is because their milk teeth are coming in. Ouch!!!!!. Secondly, when pups are around 5 weeks of age mother's milk is not as rich as it once was....good time to begin the weaning process. It's best to innoculate between 8 and 9 weeks of age....as this will not supress mother's immunities. 3 - Do any of you have "forms" or questions that you always ask. What about sale contracts to require spay/nueter?? There are plenty of threads on here that have discussed how to conduct interview on potential new families (of which should have been done prior to the breeding). So, much information on what is a good contract and what isn't. Just google. Yes, all contracts should include a spay/nueter clause. Among other things.....insuring that the pup will be taken for annual check ups. Housing in a climate controlled home. No outside chaining (their are laws in various states for this). Fenced back yard. The list goes on and on and should include your responsibility as a breeder should something be genetically wrong with the pups or if the new owners can't keep the pup any longer.......Your contract and instructions should include everything that is best for the pup.

| I actually thought I had homes for the pups before she got pregnant. I felt they would be good homes...I really wasn't ready to fall this much in love with them....... One home has had some changes and the "Mom" has taken on some new things and I just don't think she'll have the time that I feel the baby should have. The little girl is small and I have to make sure she's in a home that will do all the right things for a tiny princess. Teeth coming in??? They are all there!!!! I'm not sure how she lets them eat at all!!! Was worried about antibodies. I've called several vets and they all tell me "we just give the puppy dose" for shots. I'll keep calling..... Thanks and more input is very welcome!

How small is this little girl? A reputable breeder will never sell a wee one but, will place it in a qualified home, a family that knows the ins and outs of taking care of a wee one. One that is tiny will never be placed in a home prior to it's reaching 2 pounds of age. I've kept a wee pup till well of 18 weeks to ensure that it is eating well. No reputable breeder will sell heartache, that's why we place them.

| I did Greyhound rescue for years, and have worked with a shelter here as a foster mom for new born kittens for a couple years, but never had a baby of mine have babies. There was only 1 greyhound out of the 60+ fosters that I really had a hard time letting go because I felt they were going to great homes (we did home inspections, interviews, training etc.) The kittens seem to be more resilient because they are cats. Baby yorkies just need so much more.......... I did do a lot of reading (here and books) before I made the decision to have the babies, and like I said I had home I felt at the time would be good.

| By the weight growth chart Little Diva looks like she's going to be about 4#. She has really been catching up with her brother in size so I'm hope that will continue. If she isn't going to be over 3.5# I will keep her. My first little guy was between 3 and 3.5.........when I got hime 19 years ago I didn't realize how smallhe was going to be. I was lucky and he had a good long life (16 years) with almost no problems other than teeth and loss of eye sight when he was about 15.... Like I said, I was lucky.

You're right! The breeders I know of around here (at least the ones that I know of) are not people I want to learn from. I know I don't know nearly all I need to know and am willing and want to learn. This site has given me more help than all the people here...by far!!!! Thank you again!

I've had 2 ozers' turn out to be 6 pounds and 5 ozers turn out to be 3 pounds. And I line breed, but you never know when the genes of a dog that is in the background will pop up.....
