 Exactly my point.

Thanks, for bringing this child's age to light. I hope that this little girl is in fact story telling.

What is really bothersome, if one reads her posts, she's going around giving whelping advice.

I don't know if it's really possible for YT to set age guidelines on membership....I wish they could. Not all of us, and especially newbies looking for information would take the time to validate the experience of posters.

i thought we had an age limit one time

i also have to agree that some of what she posted doesnt sound like a 11 yr old. but then again the girls these days THINK they are maturing faster

whatever the case may be..good info was provided

Mardelin 04-17-2010 05:40 AM

Just went through the rules, and unless I've missed it, there is nothing mentioned on age requirements. But, if memory serves me, I've read somewhere on here that there was and that parent authorization was required if one wasn't of the required age...

I don't know how they'd police that. I guess it would be on faith and trust.

True, but.. they also do not talk like they are 30 and an experienced breeder (sorta anyhow)... The kids these days, even up to 20+ talk this dumb slang..all my sons female friends do it.

LOL they ask birth date and make them click they are over a certain age.. even myspace.com has an age limit and look how many underage kids there are on there.. I think they have to be at least 14.

I don't really think this site is for kids, most of the people on here are over 18 at the least, it's all adult conversation. So you think it would be a bit boring for a kid, unless they wanted to just make trouble.

There are several younger pre-teen and teenage people on here. But, most are preoccupied with the fun of owning a yorkie...stick to the socialization aspect of YT.....some have been very entertaining with providing the community with the fun aspects of their lives....

Yes, there have been some with what appears to be personality disorders, but those are easy to spot...

What do you mean by personality disorders?

Let's not go down that road.....But, as we all know being a pre-teen or teenager is not the easiest time in someone's life. There are those that have a tremendous need for attention and do what every it takes to obtain it. There are those that live for the shock value, those that are having difficulty fitting in with their peers. Young ones that are seeking other information than dogs, information that should be discussed with their parents.

There was a young lady on here PuppyLove123, from the Miami area a few years back. She was about the OP posters age. Such a delight. Her whole focus was obtaining a yorkie, but her parents thought they were too expensive. Her aunt's yorkie ended up preggie from another dog (not yorkie). This young lady was so excited because she was going to get a pup. We went through the whole gestation period, blow by blow. We also had the joy of listening to her daily activities of school, friends, family, her life in general.....But, she was a child that just enjoyed life.

If you read back over A LOT of her posts, it's pretty evident in some cases. Also, she mentions MULTIPLE times that she's only 11.

Exactly. And if you look, a lot of it is very INACCURATE information.

Granted, my daughter is 9 and has been immersed in all things Yorkies since she was born. She's done some jr. handling, has forgotten more about Yorkies than some people will ever know, and could take care of these dogs *almost* just as well as I could. BUT, fact remains she is still just a child and I could not fathom her trying to advise someone on something as serious as breeding. You can be responsible and mature past your age when you are young--even to the point that you would rival some adults. (Point in case, MeganS). But it will only get you so far.

No you didn't say anything wrong. But, we all know when young people are having difficulties and don't know how to deal with them. Some come here with the need to socialize because those needs aren't being filled in their personal lives.....and there have been a small % of those on YT. They've come and gone quickly. Today's society is one that I wouldn't want to be growing up in.

Hence the bunny reference. It's sad, just another type of sad.

I don't know an 11 year old could up with this story. Her post was a screaming cry for attention or I wouldn't have known something was wrong. I bet if somebody looks we would find she may not have a dog. She probably took that information from another one to use so she could get attention. Sad.

I'm moved by this.

Oh, Wow....I just went back and read some old posts from the OP. It does seem that she's 11. I had never noticed this before or I may have phrased my answers differently. I just assumed it would be an adult posting breeder questions. There is an old thread with pictures of Miley, her girl.

There's more to it. Not sure any of it is real. I saw a post where she would like for her to do agility b/c she's retiring her after one liter. Agility.

I saw that, too, and am not too surprised to see that coming from an 11 year old, if the age is true. She has been here a little while, so not sure what's real. I would hope that, if there is a Miley that is pregnant that her parents would come on. Surely no child is going to be left to whelp a litter.

Ahhh, the more I type this, the more unreal it seems. Maybe it's just an internet version of phone games kids sometimes play. Who knows?

wolflover 04-17-2010 02:47 PM

Ok, forget this thread. Is there any way I can lock/delete/smething it?

Her little girl was supposedly obtained from Petco, is not really of breeding age and small.

What this young girl should not be doing is posting in the breeder section, as newbies go there and read in hopes in gaing knowledge. With this young ladies posting everything that is not right to do. Not a message to be sending....

Mardelin 04-17-2010 03:33 PM

Yes you can request the thread to be locked.

But, young lady I strongly suggest that you stop giving breeding advice in the breeding section. Your knowledge is very limited.

We'd love if you stay and share all other experiences with your dogs, ask questions.

I haven't seen a petco that sells pets. The one that did sold fish and small rodents, but I think they were feeder fish, and feeder rodents (for snakes).

Romo_Juliet 04-17-2010 04:46 PM

Yes, Petco does...ours here on Oahu is having an adoption event this weekend.

But that's adoption. That's different. I know my local PetSmart invites local shelters to bring out their adoptable animals so people can see them, and hopefully take one home. So it's not PetSmart selling the animals, they're letting the shelters use their store to promote their pups.
