| Dew Claws and Docking Tails Question about Tail Docking, please. I have my two Yorkies, and my son has a Yorkie. None are related and ALL had their tails cropped at different lengths! ... not a big difference, but a noticeable one. Is there a Show Dog Rule or "rule of thumb" as to how many vertebrae to leave? My sister will be acting as "mid-wife", she's an experienced Shar-Pei Breeder, she always did her own tail docking and the taking of their dew claws - they were "mini's", but still a much larger dog. I would really like some feedback on this surgical procedure. Thank you! All of you in this forum are so very helpful and knowledgeable - I'm so glad I found it! My Mini is due Oct 24th!

| I have always heard that you dock their tail just below the brown on their tail. I have 3 yorkies, all different breeders and all tails are different. |

| tails I remove the last third..they like them a touch longer now. I use a clamp and twist method. Go outside the gold, not into it..they are too short that way..IMO. |
