In the last two or so years the USA has issued new rules vs a vs importation of dogs into their country. A dog should/must have a valid rabies certificate which means generally most vets will NOT vaccinate for Rabies prior to 3months old and the regulations then go on to state that one month waiting period must be allowed prior to entry. This means the earliest a puppy legally can be imported to the States is 4mths old..... Many breeders and owners want to wait to do Rabies vaccine until at least 6mths old older even if your circumstances allow.

\your breeder just might have thought the health of her puppy was of paramount importance.

Non disclosure of these facts is less than ideal. There is a thread on here about the new rules and what it means for cross border selling of puppies.

Hello everyone. If I may , I have heard not to buy from breeders who just bring a few puppies to you. I am in the US so I can't drive up to Miss Mason's home for a visit. I have heard very great things about her and I am thinking of contacting her when I am done saving. She does have beautiful babies. I am just kinda taken back when its not close by and I can't visit the home. Interested in feedback and suggestions . Thanks very much.

I have a lovely dog of Joy's breeding, a very accomplished AKC grand champion. I think she does, or did in the past, drive into the US with a few select dogs to show prospective clients. I'm actually located within an easy day trip to her home and am ashamed not to have made the drive to visit her.
I think people need to grow accustomed to the idea of meeting up with a breeder to choose from a few select puppies. The legal environment for breeders, thanks to the animal rights movement, has driven many of us into remote rural places to keep our dogs safe. Some of us are leery of having our addresses known for fear of being raided. Raids are not always fair in this environment.
Reputation is golden. Know the reputation of the breeder you're dealing with.

Several years ago one member of YT got her baby from Jocelyn, and she was very pleased with her. She also lives in the US. This was before the new rabies laws. Please also look into the confinement laws if you don't want to give rabies at such a young age. This gives information about the confinement laws.
