Destiny had a lot of trouble with her first puppy. She started passing a lot of green before the puppy was born and was having difficulty delivering. The puppy (girl) was 5 1/2ounces and came breach. The puppy got stuck and I had to pull her out. Luckily she made it and is doing just fine now.

The vet gave her an oxy shot to further things along and that really helped. She goes back in here in a few hours to make sure all the pups are out and all is well.

So we have:
1st puppy: Girl 5 1/2ounces
2nd puppy: Boy 5 1/2 ounces
3rd puppy: Girl 5 1/4 ounces

These are the biggest puppies Destiny's ever had. All her other pups were 4 ounces and under.

So all is well and turned out alright. Destiny's enjoying her pups right now.

Thanks everyone for your prayers, this has been a very long and difficult whelp.

Nothing She woke us again this morning...same time as yesterday (5am) because she went under our bed. We took her out the the living room and now she is just sleeping away with my husband on the couch. I am just about in tears...only because I am drained. With my son being sick with Pneumonia all of last week and also not sleeping because I am worried about Livi. I am just soooooooo COMPLETELY tired at this point.

Maybe, just maybe, today will be the day. I am going to give the vet a call this morning and see what they say.

What day is she on from her last tie? Is she past the date? I'll be curious to see what the vet has to say and will be surely sneaking a peek here from work today. You can count on my prayers and wishes for a safe whelp still continuing for you.

Awe, Tammy, I hope Livi decides to deliver today. I am so sorry, being tired and drained is not a good feeling, maybe you can catch a nap while she is with your hubby. Is your son feeling better? Hopefully you will have a wonderful day filled with puppy breath. Will be keeping you and Livi in our thoughts today, it has to be the day!!!

Oh Tammy I feel so bad for you, but it will all be worth it when those puppies come nice and fat and healthy.

Keeping fingers crossed for today. This has to be as bad as going over your own due date. I always went early and always felt bad for those who went over.

My Hallie went almost a week over one time, my guess was she had not ovulated till after she was bred.

I wouldn't worry too much yet. Nature has a way of taking it's course with dogs, just like it does with humans. If they aren't ready to be born yet, and need more time, then it's best that they have more time in their mommy. Prayers going up for her, puppies and you!!!

The wait, worry and wonder is killing me! Her first tie would have put her at 63 days last Saturday, but she had one more tie and that day would have been her 63 this past Monday. The only thing that I can think of is that I have always felt like Livi ovulates late....I think I have even told Sue and Karen this. She will not start flagging until the 16th day of her cycle and her heats are longer than the "norm". I let them tie on the 11th and 13th day of this heat....even though I felt like it was early for her. I was surprised that Livi was flagging because, like I said, she doesn't do this until her 16th day. Sooooo, if that is all true then that would put her due tomorrow.

Does any of that make sense....or am I writing as tired as I am feeling?

Tammy, you made perfect sense. Do try to get some little cat naps here and there, so you'll be ready when the time does come. Also, try to drink some extra water -- that will help you to not get as run down as quickly.

Yes it makes sense, and if she ovulated late then she would not have conceived at the time of the tie.

I don't recall how long the sperm live. But she should be having them soon.

Question. How do you know exactly when their heat starts? I rarely see any blood with my girls, I go by when the other dogs start to do a lot of sniffing.

I would imagine the other dogs (especially the boys) would be a great indication. For Livi....I just know because she starts acting different and then within a couple of days, she starts licking. Livi is one that once you are around her, you feel like you can read her thoughts because she is sooooooo expressive with her eyes. I always know when she needs or wants something...plus, she likes to come and sit and stare at me until I get it. She's probably thinking..."Geesh, humans...have to teach them everything!"
