HELP first puppy dead
 
My Yorkie had a puppy at 5:14 and it is dead. How long before the next one??

I am having a hard time getting around on here. Do you know how long the gap is in between puppies????

It really depends on the female...don't let her try hard pushing for over two hours! She will need to go to the vet for a csection. Good luck!

Are you saying 5:14 as in 4 hours ago? If so, get offline and get her to the vet now.

Im in Canada. Different time zone. She is resting, keeps looking up to make sure I dont leave the room.

Not to change the subject. I just clicked on your avatar. It looks like one of my yorkies, so much so I thought it was my photo! She's a coat machine.

Has she whelped before? How many puppies is she expecting? I'm sorry she lost the puppy.

I neverhad an x-ray. (should of) This is her first litter and the puppy came out 1 1/2hrs ago. There was alot of discharge before the puppy.

What color discharge? Have you delivered yorkie puppies before? Is she asleep now?

It was a dark browny-red. It came and then the puppy. No more though. She is sleeping now.

No more yet. It has been 1 3/4hrs

Pups don't always breath on their own at first.
You must help then by sucking fluids out of the mouth and holding them head down while rubbing them gently in a wash cloth to get them breathing.

Sometimes there is a few hours in between pups.
If she is resting and not in distress (continually pushing with no pup born).
She should be OK.
If at any time you feel she is not acting right, get her to the VET ASAP.

Better than green. Was the puppy in the sac? Is this you first yorkie "birth"? I thought the puppy died after it was born. Now I think it you may have lost it in whelping. Is this what happened? How long did she try to pass the puppy? Is she contracting? Have you looked at her abdomen to see if she's having contractions? Have you called the vet yet? How much does the dead puppy weight? How much does she weight b/f being pregnant? Have you checked her temp yet? Have you offered her water? Did she want it?

Yes in sack. Probly dead in whelping,9min to pass. She is 4pounds. Drank water. Should I feel belly for movement. I didnt want to disturb her, but I will.

sorry for your loss, do you have a stethoscope? can you hear any more heartbeats? did you go for x rays? is so many things that need to be done so know at whelping time what feels wrong.. I would call the vet and take her..

I would feel for any movement. Just lay you hand on her tummy and see if you can feel movement.
Some moms aslo like there tummy rubbed, mine do.

Did she pass the placenta from the other pup ?

I am pretty sure that there is no more as she is skinny looking. Think I feel a bump in there...Puppy??? She is starting to whimper abit now.

What if she does have another puppy in there that she cannot pass? What if there's a stillborn? I don't think you know what to do.
No offense intended I only mean this to taken the right way because I care about your little girl.

I'd take her to the vet. She's too small to be expected to free whelp. I'd be at the vet if it were me. Too many what if's.

The other pup if there is one could be in the birth canal and hard to feel it, if she isn't pushing or in distress I would watch her closely, if she is pushing (more than 2 hours)or in distress take her to the vet asap.

She is doning well. we had another still born. She actually tried eating it. She is eating, drinking, using the bathroom.....

Thanks. I am glad she is passing the puppies. I just wish that one of them would of made it for her.
