need to find out if I am right The puppys turn 5 weeks old today!!! It has been a long hard road but all 6 puppies are doing great! I am still bottle feeding them twice a day. My parents who watch them while I work during the day feed them puppy food and or rice ceral with puppy formula. We do not see eye to eye on this. I think they should be bottle feed at least twice a day to make sure they are getting enough fluids. My parents say that at this age Abbey the mother normally stops nursing them. Does any one have advice on this?

A lot of pups are pretty well weaned at this age. It certainly isn't necessary to bottle feed at 6 weeks

If it wasn't for the grooming bill I would keep all 6 of them. I have tried to do the grooming myself but it turned out so bad I don't think I will try that again. Poor Ella my dads poodle was the one who I tried and it was so bad! I am suprised she still loves me! Proof that she is not vain at all! Thank you for your help! Yorkietalk has helped me so much with these puppies!

| With any litter of 3 or over. I begin letting them lap at Goats Milk with = parts of distilled water, mainly to assit mom and attempt to prevent eclampsia. At 4 weeks of age I begin adding Rice Cereal. Some pups will take to it immediately, other's because mother has an abundance of rich milk will turn their nose up at food......and only want to nurse. Since I let mom call the shots in weaning. But, the consistency on mother's milk begins changing at week 5. I wait until pups milk teeth are in before adding kibble to their diet. My moms continue to allow them to nurse for comfort to approximately 10 weeks of age, even though the pups are eating well on their own.

They are all about 1 pound. Runtrunt is a little under a pound. I have been afraid to leave water with them so we bought one of the bottles for the side, they couldn't care less about the water bottle. They all eat but still love to drink from the bottle. With the bottle they drink about 1-3 tbs depending on how much food they ate. We are feeding them ukanuba(sp) wet puppy food and grind ekanuba dry puppy food and mix with puppy formula, they eat rice ceral and some canned pumkin. I am just so afraid of losing one of them. I have never bottle fed anything that lived but my daughter. I tried to bottle feed a baby bunny and it died and broke my daughters heart and mine.
