Looking for advice

One of the things I did not plan for was the amount of time involved from pregnancy to pups going home. Bella Mia became pregnant in May and now it is October last pup went home Sunday. I am also in the medical field and I think us medical folks worry a bit more. I found that I wanted to be home with Bella Mia and then with the pups to keep that constant eye out for any problems before during and after.
It was an absolute WONDEFUL experience for me but I want more knowledge so it will be quite awhile before I breed again.

Thanks for the response. I was using Huddersfield Ben more as an example of breeding true to type than as a representation of the modern Yorkie. You explained it much better than I.

Angela, I'm an x-RN, I don't think that we tend to worry more, just more aware of the things that can happen. I think some people worry more than others, because we just love animals so much. Breeding is something I really don't like, so I do it very spareingly.....

I've attended seminars, studied canine genetics, breeding whelping....and when I get into the technical stuff it takes a bit more thought process for me to break it down into my very simple way of thinking.

Your right and I was well aware of what could happen and always wanting to be prepared. I am not generally a "worrier" type but with Bella Mia I guess I was a worrier. Bella Mia brought me out of the end of a very nasty divorce so she does mean the WORLD to me.

Thinking about it when I was worried Bella Mia had Mastitis my concern was actually a good thing because she had it and I picked it up sooner than later because I knew what I was looking for. Then again when Sherman was constipated I was convinced he was having a siezure because of the drooling heeheeeheeee ooooops!

Well I am a worrier, hubby gets so upset with me, tells me I'm looking for trouble. It's just that I'm so in tune with my animals. I know when my Go-Go had almost lost her life with her last litter, I kept saying something isn't right, she's not acting like she usually does when she has pups. Sure enough something wasn't right. I just pick up on stuff when it concerns my babies.
