| Tube feeding question, answer soon? I had a 1.7 ounce girl born yesterday. Last night she wasn't breathing so well and looked skinnier than she should. I thought that maybe she wasn't nursing so I tube fed her. This morning she was breathing better but thin again so I tube fed her again. My problem is that now she looks thin again and I can't get her to take the tube into her stomach. Last night no problem, the tube went and went and went. Today, I can't get it to go past her elbow. I can't remember because I have had so little trouble getting tubes to go down but isn't the measurement to the bottom of their ribs? Thanks, Sylvia |

| Sylvia, contact Char7. She has tube fed many times and she'll have great advice for you.

| It should be past the ribs, you should put a marker on the tube. Lay her flat on a table (head down also) with the tube beside her (as if going down her throat) and you can get a measurement that way. It sounds like you may be hitting the stomach. |

| How's the baby? I had to tube feed Zacchie, but not until he was older. Does your little girl have a cleft palate?
