Running High Temp!! I just too Cinnamons temperature and it was 105.7!! I am going to take her to the vet soon, but in the mean time should I let her nurse?? what do ya'll think is wrong with her? anyone have any experience with this? |
She needs to go to the vet immediately. She could have a retained puppy, placenta or a uterus infection. She needs antibiotics. She will stop making milk too with a high temperature. Please keep us updated. |
Please take her to the vet now. Please keep us updated. I am sending a lot of prayers your way right now! |
sending prayers.... I hope your at the vet!!! |
Prayers coming your way for Cinnamon. I too hope you're at the vet with her, and I'll be anxiously waiting to hear how she comes out. |
OH no, so sorry but yes you need to get her to the vet. Please let us know how she makes out...:( |

okay, well now we are back at home and they gave her a shot of oxytocin but now she is shaking and is not producing much milk. I am about to take her temperature. any advice???? I am really worried but the vet said to just keep an eye on her. I also have not been able to get her to eat. please help! |
do you have any puppy supplement formula? mix it about 2/3 with 1/3 water and see if she will lap it up - how about ice cream - can you boil some chicken and rice with chicken broth? maybe put a smidge of cheese on it, Molly didn't eat much the first 2 days but she sure drank that puppy milk and would eat ice cream, what about a little cottage cheese? some karo syrup water too I am so sorry she is sick- I hope the oxyshot turns her around real soon |

oh no, they are nursing a lot! they are struggling to get anything out, so I think I am going to have to feed them myself... I am going to try and get some chicken and stuff for her. they only gave her something for anemia. I feel so helpless. I am afriad to go back to the vet and have them charge me a fortune and still not know what is wrong with her. maybe I should just play it safe and get her spayed... |
Watch her temperature, what is it now? I'm surprised they didn't give you an antibiotic. I would try getting her to eat something with calcium (ice cream?) and of course get her to drink if you can. Maybe at least some nutrical? If she isn't taking in any liquids, that will affect her milk production. I do remember being a nervous wreck myself those first few days. Are the puppies gaining weight at all. Maybe they are getting more than you think? Try weighing them every few hours. I had to hand feed Zoe for those first few days - maybe week and I also had to offer her water while she was in with the puppies. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping everything is ok. don't be afraid to go back to the vet if you have to..... |
I took her temp. and it was 104.3 and earlier it was 105.4 so atleast it is going down but she still is very weak and looks soo sick. she is just laying there... yes they did give her an antibiotic. I am confused with everything that is going on and am forgetting things. |
yes I hand fed Molly too as she didn't want to leave her pups even to eat so I just hand fed her where she lay so try that- try to relax- if they gave her the oxy shot and meds - give it a few hours more to see if she improves but like everyone has said she needs fluids |
How are mom and pups doing today. I pray things are going better. |
Hi, just checking in and seeing how the little mama is doing!! |
