| ![]() So Sorry you had problems and SOOOOO glad you did your post. I sell ALL my pets with a spay contract for that one reason. Seems everyone who has a girl thinks she needs to be bred. A bitch spayed before her first heat has a 0% chance of mamary gland cancer. I just lost a sale for 2 puppies a few weeks ago ,but I don't care Here is my story. My Specials Bitch Am, Nat'l, Int'l BIS BISS Ch Sparkling Blu Dreams of Glory. Everyone said I needed to breed her, she had so much to offer the breed, she weighed just under 5 pounds. I made sure she was healthly, blood work, stool checks and anything else possible. She had a pre whelping exray, blood work and stool check. the exray confirimed that we needed to do a c-section, so we planned as soon as she went into labor to do the section. She stared labor and I called my vet at 3am and we did the section and it went great, 3 screaming baby boys, Glory can out and immediately went to work being a Mom. Since i'm a Vet tech she went to work and stayed in my office. Things went great until 3 1/2 days she started heavier than usual panting, so off to the vets, more blood work everything still looks good so I took her home. Next morning she was in trouble so I took her to work and they did everything in their power to save her but I lost her. I did post her and they found nothing. I have lost the love of my life. After 29 years you think you have seen it all but there is always something that can go wrong. Now my 3 little boys had no mother, thank God I had Solitare who had her puppies 3 weeks before, she would let the puppies nurse, BUT they did not want to. It took 2 1/2 weeks before they gained any weight. They are wonderful today and Major pointed , BUT if I had to to do over again. I would take my beautiful Glory back. I still sleep on my couch, cause Glory's pen is still set up in my bedroom! To see my beautiful Glory go to my web page she is on the welcome page and she has a page to herself and G-man and Deemer are 2 of her boys! Sparkling Blu Yorkies |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | ![]() oh girls I am so sorry.. My son is a vet tech too, so i am fully aware of everything that can go wrong with a yorkie mom, so I had my beloved Yorkie Prada spayed at 6 months of age, I cound NOT even consider the thought of loosing her. My Silky girl was a gift from my mom with the condition that she will have at least one litter with my harry handsome stud and give her one of the puppies, chanel is 11 pounds of solid doggy..LOL and I am still nervous, we did ALL the pre mating test and they both passed them with flying colors but , I know that is always that little posibility of something going wrong... but right now I am very positive that when they mate in a few days she will become pregnant and everything will be fine and i will have a gorgeous litter of silky puppies.. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| ![]() Sbyork, I'm so sorry to hear about Glory's loss. I know what you mean about the heartache and guilt. I cuddle Diva everyday, thanking God that she pulled through, but I have such guilt that I almost Killed her. And I mean "I almost killed her." I chose to breed her thinking that bad things happen to other people. She has a great pedigree, her mother and grandmother all whelped with no issues. I did all the pre-mating testing and researched 2 years before I even dared breed her the first time. I had a mentor (the lady that actually sold Diva to me and had been breeding yorkies for 16 plus years.). I researched the stud's pedigree and his history as a breeder. I thought I was ready. I have been knocked down a few notches and now fully know that I nor Diva are invinceable. I will cherish my baby for as long as God allows me to have her. No more puppies for us. I posted in the nursery section that I turned down many people for the 2 female puppies that I have, even my own sister. I insist on a spay contract, I even offer to pay for it myself. I am now considering keeping my female until she is old enough to spay, then finding her a home. ONe of my females is going to my best friend, who understands how I feel and agrees to spay as soon as the vet recommends. Even though I trust her, she still has to sign a notarized contract with me. I just hope my story can make one person realize that they can and very possibly will lose their female. There is no money in breeding yorkies. Diva's vet bills are well over $1,000 dollars at this point. Even besides that, no amount of money in the world could replace her. |

| ![]() Thank God every day you have your beautiful Diva, I would change places with you in a heart beat! One of my bitches that I bred and co-own whelped this past weekend and she had 2 babies, the first one fine and the second one came belly first and no one was able to save it BUT Mom and baby boy are doing fine. I told someone that it should be written some where that ALL first time breeder have a problem and that way you weed out the ones that are serious and dedicated and can handle problems. SOOOOO many people think you just put 2 dogs together and get the perfect puppies. Having your bitches spayed first before selling is a GREAT idea. What a lot of people don't realize is a lot of the dogs registered with the other resigteries are ones that were bought with spay/neuter contracts and somewhere down the line they decided to breed them. Without AKC full registration they turn to another registery/ So happy all is well with your girl ![]() ![]() ![]() Sparkling Blu Yorkies ![]() |
