| Stud not able to successfully tie Hello everyone I need some help! Teddy is 15 months and he has his first ever bitch to stud to. They are both newbies. I have bred my other yorkie with another stud that never had any problems. But anyway she has been standing still for him to mount for two day and he cannot seem to tie with her. He has been exhausting himself trying but it just does not seem successful. I am pretty sure he has "penetrated" her twice but no tie. Because they get stuck for like 1 minute and they both panic. I try to hold them to help but one of them will roll or something and they loose it. I'm not sure why he is having trouble what can I do to help him out??

| How big are your female and male? If the male is much smaller you might need the help of someone else. One should hold the female still and calm her (my girl hates to be tied to the male, she will start crying because she's not use to it. This is her first breeding), and then the other person should hold the male and help guide him along. Once you think he's penetrated keep them held together. Other than that maybe someone will know more of what to do.

| Breeding 2 virgin dogs is rather difficult. You may have to put him up on a book, roll a towel to give him some leverage. My husband usually holds and guides the male, while I hold the female.......Sometimes it takes several tries. Try for about 15 minutes and if he doesn't succeed let them rest awhile and try again. What you don't want to do is fracture his ego.....It may take 5 or 6 tries or more before you have success. And it may be she is not quiet ready. He may not be penetrating far enough for her to grab onto him, as she is the one that initiates the tie. Remember she can concieve without a tie.

| Thanks mardelin I'm so confused I have bred his mother with no problems she starts flagging and "flirting" with my other dogs I take her to the stud they tie and thats it. With this bitch they brought her on what they say was her 11th day she was still spotting. 3 days later she will allow him to mount her but no flirting no flagging. And I really don't believe she is breedable. Now her vulva seems to be getting smaller. Which would now be her 15th day if her owners calculated her heat cycle correctly. She is NOT swollen enough for him to tie. It looks like a normal sized vulva to me. My friend is coming by later to look at her. And give me her opinion.

| I can't tell from the picture. Although, her she hasn't gone back to normal size. She may be too late to breed.
