Weaning my puppies

AHH! That makes me feel better. No, she's not whining, and they are both just as active, and look like beached whales. The boy was actually 2.25 oz when he was born and she was 3.25, now he's an oz heavier. There eye's look great, I can see the ears opening and the girl actually sits. it is the cutest thing I have every seen. I don't know how those little legs are going to hold up those big ole bellies.

Thank you, SSSSOOOO much. I feel so much better, I know it's hard not actually seeing them but by reading this and seeing how they act I think everything is fine. I will continue to monitor the weight and unless I see an significant drop in weight I will not be concerned.

When puppies get really fat like that they do have a hard time walking. Be sure to put some bedding down that is not slick. I like to put down something like a folded flannel sheet or a rug so the pups can get traction with their fat little legs. Also, if you hold the pup several times a day with there hind legs in the palm of your hand so they are pushing up a little that will help them build their leg muscles. Really fat pups a slower at walking and therefore they are slower to wean.

Ahh, ok. I have them in a cage (for a medium dog) I used this as their whelping box and I have blankets in there, tucked in very good so their little heads can't go under it. My sister just brought me over a heavy duty cardboard box 40 x 36 that we cut down so mom can get in and out but puppies can't and in there I have blankets and a rug, this way they can be downstairs with us.

I do hold them everyday but I will start helping to work their muscles.yes, they are rather chuncky.
