| Will a 5 Month Old Puppies Coat Darken Any? Hi, I've got a five month old puppy that I ended up shaving because he started matting really bad when his puppy coat started changing over. He is really light colored and I didn't know if he might darken up as the hair gets longer? His dad is an AKC CH with Stardust lines and his mom isn't light either and is Ch grandsired with Prestigeous lines. I'm attaching some pics of him I really need to do some more with the clippers and even him out. And his topline isn't bad he just hunkered up for the pictures. He hates having his picture taken the little brat. I didn't know if any of you breeders might be more familiar with their coats and could help me out. Whitney |

YT Addict | It's been my experience that it will not. I had to cut Harley down when he was around 6 months old. He was dark in color (he is a blue & gold) but after I had him cut he was silver. He has pretty much stayed that way. |

| I don't believe your baby's coat will get darker. They usually get lighter not darker as they get older, if they are going to change at all. Buddy was black as a puppy and started to lighted up as he got older. Today at 5 if his coat grows out some he has gold running threw the black on his back but if I shave him down he is once again jet black. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | What a cutie. My Pixie and Roxie are Stardust girls and they have stayed pretty black as I have never shaved them. Pixie started at about 2 1/2 getting some silver on her back but is still pretty black. Roxie is still all black. I like the lighter color. I wonder if his coat will be more manageable once it grows back.

| Hi, He's got personality deluxe I tell you that much. He's finally settling down a little at 5 months. He's completely fearless. His hair kind of got away from me and I took him over to a friends house a lot and he wore a belly band. He's not big on brushing and the belly band matted the hair on his belly and it was just easier to shave him down than comb so much hair. It seems like it's a real nice silky coat from what has grown back so far. Whitney |
