I think Heav'ne's in Labor!
 
ok so she hasn't been eating all day until a few seconds ago. She ate a very small amount of wellness puppy can food but she is still refusing to drink water. She is still panting and shaking every 20-25 mintues. Her stomach was making lots of sounds so I assumed she was hungary. The puppies are very active almost like they are trying to force their way out. LOL! I haven't taken her temp but she is very restless and the puppies are down low. I am laying inside her pen with her because she wont let me leave her. She's licking herself so hard I think she is going to lick the skin right off of herself. Her stomach is still making gurgling sounds that are loud. Is this normal? Could she actually be close. This makes day 60.

Hello,
I too am waiting for my yorkie to have her puppies, her name is Tia and today is 60 days. She finially started to stay in her whelping box and she has been licking me so much I think practicing LOLO.
Ive been reading alot on these board. Have you taken her temp? Ive been taking Tia's and she is 98.2 that was 2 days she has been under 100. No bleeding or anything and the puppies are very active too.
So it sounds like it might be a long nite for you will keep watching the board to see if Heav'nes had hers.

When a female goes into labor her stomach will get rock hard when she has a contraction. To me the gurgling sounds just means she is hungry or has a tummy ache. Without being there it is really hard to say. Sometimes we let our imagination get away from us. I know I have stayed up many a night thinking a female was in labor only to find out it was a false alarm and then there were times when I did not know they were in labor until right before they had a puppy. Each female is different.

I noticed that her vulva is much larger than before. could it be swollen due to all the licking she has been doing?

Oh gosh, I don't think so. It is more swollen in preparation for those puppies coming out. It sure sounds like she is close to whelping time, but as BJH says, they have a way of fooling you too.

LOL.. that sound familiar... sleepless night... appointment cancel... so sure today's the day but no... nothing... I got trick many time by my females. :rolleyes

She should start peeing every 30 min + when time come...

It is really important for her to drink water. Try to put a little chicken broth in it or make her drink from your hands or pipet.

Oh I sure hope it is her time! I can feel your anticipation. I hope all goes well and that Heav'ne is just as good of a mommy as Emma is.

I guess you guys are right. I am so excitied about puppies being born that every little sound she makes get me worried. If her stomach gets hard with contractions then I am certain that she's having contractions. Her vulva reminds me off how big it gets when they are in heat and it looks sorta like a doughnut but it's just a little bigger. She is very uncomfortable and I still cant get her to drink any water. she keeps moving from one end of her box to the next. Well my daughter just took her temp and its 97.7 and she got her to drink some water with a little karo syrup and ice in it. She is now resting on her side and the pups appear to be kick boxing LOL!!!

I too, know oh too well, the waiting. As a matter of fact I have a bitch due to whelp now and have a 50th anniversary for my parents tomorrow I hope to make!!!

Her time must be getting near! Maybe you can get some rest off and on through the night and she will have them tomorrow (I will say a prayer for you)

No pups yet. Heav'ne has me on pins and needles. I slept with her last night and boy did she toss and turn. She is still licing herself and she only drank water this morning. i took her out to potty this morning but she strains like she has to use it but nothing happens. Will update later but for now I am going to sleep in my bed.

Straining to poop can be a sign that she is in labor and is having a contraction. Please watch her closely. Is her stomach really hard this morning?

Heav'ne is sliding her butt across the floor. Her stomach is much harder than last night. It kinda feel like hard rocks. The puppies i think are playing football in there because of all the movement. today she started licking her stomach. Is it ok for me to take her on a walk.

Wow, again from what you've been and are describing, she sounds SO close. With her belly being so hard, have you seen or felt any contractions? With her sliding her butt across the floor :confused:, I've never seen that mentioned before, but it sounds logical that she is feeling some sort of pressure or something down there & that may be why she's doing it. I've also read and heard that a walk can be helpful, but....boy she sounds close. I'd hate to be on a walk when she decides to deliver a pup. Maybe just a walk around the yard or stay really close to home.

I agree with everything you just said. :thumbup:

She is so close... and just walk in the backyard or right on front of the house.It might help as it is easier for the babies to get in the right position when the dog is in movement(especially for larger litters).

So exiting... We are all waiting for the big moment...:D

I just came back from walking her. I walked her maybe three blocks. She was so tired when we came back that she went into her pen and drank her whole bowl of water. I really think she needed that walk and she was so excited when I grabbed her leash out of the closet. During the wal she did strain and finally she pooped but it was the darkest I have ever seen.

I am sure you have done this but you need to check her behind and make sure she does not have any poop that is stuck on her bottom. It sounds like she might be in labor. You need to take her to a smaller confined area and watch her close. Most of the time the first thing to come out will be a water bubble. You will start feeling a hard buldge in her vulva and as the labor progresses the bulge will start coming out a little further with each set of contractions.

Once in a while though, the bubble comes with he puppy or after the puppy.
