| almost 3 weeks Hi... my female has been in heat for almost 3 wks.. is this normal? Her heat came after 9months, this heat is her 2nd heat & I wanted to breed her but the way things are going I dont know if I would breed her on time. Should I be worried? Should I take her to the vet? Could she have passed ovulation already? Please help! |

| Take her to the vet if you have concerns. Most normal heats last about 21 days, more or less. You usually breed them on the 11th day after first signs of her heat. She and the male, of course, will tell you when the right breeding day is. You have already missed the opportunity to breed her this time. Nine months in between heats is normal for Yorkies.

| I did breed her twice this week... sunday & tuesday, she was even humping her toys. We are on day 19 today. By that time it was pinkish, but now it looks pretty bloody again. I just thought that b/c shes a every 9month heat Yorkie that it would last longer & like us women, if our periods are longer most likely we wouldnt ovulate til a lil later. One money hungry vet said it could be an infection, does that sound right? Should I wait a couple more days & then take her? |
