Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Ooooo, I notice that you are both in California...........anywhere in close proximity to each other? Wouldn't THAT be nice! So, I can never remember..........is it earlier or later on the west coast than it is here in central time? Well wait, if it was later, you wouldn't be online any more would you.........cuz it would be almost 8:30????? So you'll be here for another hour or so??

No she's in Northern California, I thought she was in Woodland Hills, which would have been close enough for me to drive there.

| We live in Northern Ca. It is 5:35 pm here so we have a couple hours on line. It is the only bad thing about country living (losing the internet)otherwise it is new to me and I love it. |

2 hours behind! My first thought is GREAT, but then I remember how these whelps can "sometimes" take quite a while to get going. Hoping I'm wrong, I'd love to be here for at least the first pup or two. So, any more progress?

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Well, looks like Mardelin signed off for the moment. I had one litter, almost 2 years ago. I actually used Mardelin's recipies for whelping pudding and another recipie she had to give mom right after she finished whelping the pups. So the one I gave to her as directed (after whelping....she lapped it up like there was no tomorrow!) but the whelping pudding itself was given with her meals; I think a tablespoon or two added to her food. I've learned alot since that first time. If mom becomes tired during whelping I've read ice cream or Cal-Sorb helps.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I make mine right when the temp drops for I am prepared. Once the contractions start and we are on the way I give her some and then between pups for strength. I also give nutrical. Normally though, once the contractions start coming strong, my girls will vomit. But they will still take more from a spoon. Last edited by Breny; 06-29-2009 at 05:24 PM. |

| whelping pudding in the morning. Have a can of goats milk, with equal parts of distilled water 1 egg yolk and a tablespoon of Karo Syrup to give her after she's all done, or even inbetween, if she'll take it.

| I made the whelping pudding and it is in the fridge. I sent bf for more eggs and I will make your receipe. She will stay in the box as long as I stay in the room but if I get up she wants to go with me. Should she stay in the box or can she walk around? |
