| I found this info. . . The allantoic sac appears as a fluid filled bubble at the lips of the vulva at some point in the early stages of labor. Let it be- don't pull on it. That won't help anything- it will break on its own in it's own time. Its appearance usually indicates the start of serious labor. Usually within 15 to 60 minutes the bitch will have hard frequent contractions stimulated by the first puppy coming up into the pelvic canal. In hard labor the bitch will visibly strain and groan- she may stand up and strain as if defecating. Hard, frequent contractions should result in a puppy within 30 minutes. Has she had any more nutri-cal or tums?

| I think a little bit every once in a while if you see that she doesn't have much energy . . .but she is trying to push so it'll probably be on its way soon . . .is she really straining hard to get it out, like it's stuck? Or her contractions just started again? I've only watched a cat give birth and from what I remember it took around 20 - 30 minutes for the 2nd kitten to come out after presenting . . .how did the first pup present? Was it quick after you saw the sac?

| A breeder told me that a little vanilla ice cream was great during labor, b/c it gives them a little glucose for energy, hydration, and calcium. My girl loved it during labor - it was the only thing she would take, and I swear within 5 or 10 min. she seemed to get a little boost of energy. |

Cassie's sac tried to come out with the pup, and I had to get her attention back there, so she would make it pop. Once she did, the pup had some room.

Man, I wish I could help. My first one was 13 days ago, and pretty text book. I'll do the only thing I can do - pray!

| They are still attached by the cords? Are the placentas coming out too? If she isn't biting the cords, you might have to assist . . .is that what you mean by intact?
