[quote=sugar's mom;2680467]oh and another thought. If hsus ever shows up at my door they will look down the long barrel of a shotgun and they will come back with a warrant if they expect to get into my house. I don't have anything to hide but those people and peta are not welcome on my property or near my dogs. This is a good post. If i were twenty years younger, i would be one of those with an outside kennel. I have dreams of how i would like it and it would cost about fifty thousand dollars. I would like puppy rooms, sire rooms, bitch rooms, viewing rooms, grooming room, bath room large rockers a microwave and fridge for me with a coffee pot for those long nights i would spend in my whelping room. Concrete flooring, large runs for them and the list goes on. I have a farm but am just too old and i plan to stop breeding when i hit 65. I might show some then but i am done breeding.[/quote You go girl!!! And I hear ya about the "if I were 20 years younger"!! |
Just read this post and would like to say I know Ruth personally and even helped her name her Kennel. I have roomed w/ her at dog shows in the past and have found her to be a very considerate of her dogs... She is a staunch believer in breeding the healthiest of dogs... I don't blame her for not wanting ppl at her home as I have had a friend that was robbed and I posted the whole story on here years ago... I don't care if people buy puppies from me or not, they are not coming to my home either... Ruth has also been very helpful whenever she could to other breeders that needed advise with puppies... She also stands behind her breeding with a great warranty... |

If you are in Vacaville there are actually a lot of shows near you. Granted you might need to drive an hour or so like the rest of us but consider yourself in show mecca. There have been at least 10 days of shows at Vallejo this year and shows in Sacramento. There is even a show in Dixon which is right up HWY80 coming up on 8/1 and 8/2. If you ever have questions about shows in NorCal feel free to PM me...I am usually there with at least one of my 4-legged gang in tow :) |

When I went to pick up my Rocky from his breeder, there was quite a bit of corresponding that went on before she agreed to let me come and see him. I didn't get the address from her until the morning of our visit. And no dog was going to be sold to me for sure. Her letting me purchase him depended on how our visit went.:) But these cautions made me more confident in her as a responible and ethical breeder. Don't count somone out because their main concern is the welfare of their animals and not how many puppies they can sell. You can pretty much tell which breeders are all about the puppies (selling them) and which are all about their dogs. Ruth has already stated that she would let someone that she felt very comfortable with come to see her home. I also see that people are making a point about seeing the home to make sure all is what it seems. This is good advice, but if you can get good refrences and earn the breeders trust I think that it is worth the extra time and effort so that you end up with a healthy, well bred yorkie in the end. It is after all about a 15 year commitment:)JMO;) |
