| Any upcoming July litters? My Bella Mia (8lbs) is due July 2 with 1 oooops tie (daddy is a yorkie 5 lbs). Mom always said it only takes once!!!! LOL.....She will be spayed after this for all you saying spay her. Long story why she wasnt spayed earlier. The puppies all have FAMILY homes so no profit involved. I think I have more family than puppies. I am soooo excited I can hardly wait! What is everyone doing to prepare? So far I have the whelping box with heating pad which she doesnt care about at all, the whelping supplies, emergency phone numbers on speed dial including after hours vet at UCD, I have my supplies for whelping pudding, beef liver for fading puppies (that I hope to not have). I have copied all "emergency procedures" incase I forget what I have learned. Oh and I have a vet appointment for xrays. Is there anything I am missing? She eats Chicken and rice mixed with Chicken Soup for the Puppies Soul for dinner, dry kibble for lunch and 1/4 cup cottage cheese with peaches for breakfast. Oh and any ideas on how do I keep her from jumping??? This is IMPOSSIBLE! There is myself, my 18 year old son, and my boyfriend trying to keep her from jumping but she is determined to jump especially when we arrive home until we can get her. I hope not to have to ask for emergency advice when the time comes BUT I feel like we are in very good hands with all the wonderful folks here! |

| Just came back from the vets xray visit. Bella Mia is having 5 puppies! I can not believe how many pupies there are in her belly!!! I guessed 3! It was VERY cool to see the xrays! 3 are breech, 1 maybe breech it was hard to tell, and 1 was properly positioned but the vet said there is plenty of time for them to move and if not he gave me more info on assisting the momma. I pray all goes well but at the same time, I am so excited!!!!! |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | A pre-congrats to those expecting litters in July! Princessangela3 and Bella Mia, 5 puppies.......WoW! I will say a prayer for a safe whelp for all & will be watching for the arrival of those little ones. As for me, we are in the process of breeding Halle & Toby this week, so HOPEFULLY, I will be amongst those with "upcoming August litters". Keep your fingers crossed for us.

I offer no calcium supplements to mine before delivery . I have had eclampsia before and never want it again. Proper postition for puppies is breech and head first ,breech is very common position for puppies Good luck to all the new mommas to be | |

| Thanks so much for all the info. I will stop feeding her the cottage cheese now. The vet really didnt have any opinions on the cottage cheese when I asked him. He just said not to add a calcium suipplement. How about after she has the puppies? Does feeding high calcium foods prevent the eclampsia? Where can I buy calsorb? Anyone else have any thoughts on what to feed after pregnancy? Right now I feed her Chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul at dinner I mix it with boiled rice, chicken, carrots and cheese. I offer dry kibble all day. |

| You can get the Cal-sorb and the Doc Roy's Healthy Bone at Revival Animal Health Products: Revival Animal Health Products for Pet Professionals, Veterinarians and Pet Lovers I buy most of my supplies there. After the pups are born cottage cheese will be okay, although I don't usually give it to mine. The dry Chicken Soup Puppy food is good. I feel you should basically keep the momma on the same diet she is used to except add the calcium pill and make sure momma eats 3 or 4 good meals a day in addition to having dry food available at all times. As long as mom is eating plenty of food and getting her calcium pill she will most likely not have any problems with eclampsia but you always need to have the Cal-sorb on hand just in case. |
