| How many times? Hello all I have a question, I recently rented a room out to a co-worker (female) and she offered me a shiatzu puppy in stead of payment for three months, well I turned down her offer as I had recently lost Tilly and Im not wanting another dog at this point in time and it wasn't a yorkie well she moved in and has a little chihuahua and after being here just about a month her little dog appears to be so afraid and over time has become settled down and has begun to trust me, and when ever I ask her (helen) questions about why her dog is so freaked out she told me she had been abused and came from a puppy mill that she rescued, well she told me many different stories she then told that she had bought mimi to breed her? well then I asked if she came from a puppy mill why in the he** would you put her through that? this little girl is about 3-4lbs? and has had 4 litters she is 4 yrs old already and her last litter she only had one puppy. she told me that after she breeds her since mimi is getting attached to me that she will give her to me so I ask how many times can you breed a little dog or any dog that is safe? do I possibly have a person living in my home that is a bad person or breeder? maybe Im jumping the gun here, but with the shiatzu pups she told me to take the little female and her only request was to let her breed her one time? So No I didn't take the puppy but I am wanting to take her dog away from her which I can't so I need your assitance with an opinon.

| For one thing, I don't know how much rent is, but, shih tzu's normally run a little over $300 for a pup. I'm sorry, but, that woman just doesn't sound like she's being on the up and up with you. She sounds like one of these people that can tell lies very easily and believes her own lies. As far as breeding, I would only breed up to 5 years, then retire! |

Hi, Haleys mom I was going to charge her 200.00 a month she told me she sells them for 600.00 I m not against breeding belive me otherwise we all wouldn't have our babies today... Im concerned for mimi, so since she has had 4 litters it is normal to breed her up to five? sorry for my ignorance in this area If it is safe for her to be breed one more time, then I will take her after she has had her last litter and accept her offer of adopting her, I guess I felt how can you save a little dog then breed her and then give her away? I dont know but I couldn't do that thanks for the education..

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | A couple of things bother me, one she says that she would like to give you the dog because it is getting so attached to you. Why isn't it getting attached to her? Maybe she is the one who abused this dog, clearly she isn't getting attached to these dogs, and she only wants to use them as breeding machines. From the few things, I've read about Chihuahuas, this one is too small to breed, but I think you need to devise a plan, to keep the dog,and get rid of her. If she offers you the dog for one or two months rent, have it put in writing, with dates when it will be paid in full. You need to have some stipulation, if she leaves earlier than the date, so that a cash substitute can be made, with the amount per day. In other words, she could leave a couple days before the end of contract and take the dog, if you are not careful. Once the dog is legally yours, she can't breed it, and that part of the problem is taken care of. I think you need to be very careful of this person.

| s**tzu go for over 600 many times. Nothing wrong with it. they have many health problems and most are the same problems Yorkies have. When both parents have all been tested, they are normally over 600.00. I have never seen a good bred s**tzu sell for 300 unless something is wrong. I'd be afraid to pay 300, too cheap and that would raise a red flag for me. Nancy, you are such a good adviser. Carol and Jemma |

| If the dog came form a mill or not it should not be bred by someone who knows nothing about breeding let alone to pay their rent !! Have your roommate read some of the posts here on YT about things that have gone bad with whelping. I hope she has saved plenty of money incase the mom needs a emergency C-SEC. That cost alone can be $1,200. Who is she going to breed her to? Some random male? Most people would also charge a stud fee and require that the female be tested for STD's. Another cost to your roommate. If the mom get sick or the pup won't nurse, your roommate will have to bottle feed every 2 hrs. How in the world could someone get a mom from a mill just to put her through another breeding? If she cared anything about this 3-4 lb mom , she would never even consider breeding her !!! IMO. |

| update Sorry I haven't been on in awhile.. here's an update on what happened I was going to evict her but not until I figured out how to help Mimi and the little female she wanted to give me in place of cash, although the offer came with conditions. I had contacted the animal shelter here and explained the siutation with mimi and they seemed very interested in helen.. they have been looking for her (explains why she moved into my house) they didn't tell me what for but I gave them my home address and within a week a knock on the door and she was arrested yay! it did kinda freaked me out at first, I had to show papers on Sami, Mimi was a stolen dog and she was not to ever have dogs again? I never was told why on that information, but this explains a lot on why she wanted to bring all those puppies over and to give me the female, and was trying to breed that little mimi, I think well maybe not really knowing a thing about breeding, I assume that she was sited or something in the past possible about breeding and that was maybe the reason she wasn't allowed to own dogs? Im not sure I just never heard of a condition where you can "never" own pets? but she no longer lives at my home and I haven't heard anything about mimi? I was hoping that poor little thing was returned to her owner. thanks so much your opinions it helped me persue this, and it saved mimi and the litter of the pups. blessings to you all..

| I would call the arresting officer or animal control and see if they know the whereabouts of little Mimi. Hopefully she is safe and with her rightful owner. |
