| I have a question on pedigree papers??? I have a question on pedigree papers. AKC & CKC I was looking at A Yorkies pedigree going back and some of the dogs are ch, I know that means champion. (useing spaces for the names below) to try and explain the grandparenst on this pedigree 1) Ch ____ ____ ____ DOB color (Am) # number AKC 2) ____ ____ ____ DOB color( can) # number CKC Okay I know theres AKC registration and theres CKC Registrations.But.... SO if these two above are the Grandparents one being AKC and one being CKC then how is the puppies of these litters and so on on the pedigree all other then the one above ch AKC? I DIDNT THINK A ckc Parent could have pups registered as AKC. I know a AKC Dog can have both AKC then CKC... Its goes some thing like this Grandparents mom CH AKC, Dad CKC pups all CH AKC. their pups all Ch AKC??? see what Im getting at? |

For the dogs in your pedigree to be CKC registered and end up with an AKC pedigree, it has to be Canadian champs. I hope that answers your question.

I knew there was 2 CKC one being Canadian Kennel Club registered and one being Continental Kennel Club. but didnt know that the Canadian Kennel Club registered is just as reputable as AKC in Canada. so yep thanks for clearing that up for me.

| The litter and individual puppies are registered AKC if the litter is born in the US. If the owner of the dam is in Canada, the litter and individual puppy registrations are registered Canadian Kennel CLub. As I am in Canada, my litters are CKC registered, I register each puppy CKC. I have some that are dual registered. I submit the proper form, a copy of the official CKC pedigree and copy of the CKC registration to the AKC and the AKC gives me an AKC registeration number and certificate in my name for that dog. In some of my pedigrees, some dogs have AKC Ch. some have CKC Ch. and some have both as that particular dog was shown to both the AKC and CKC championship. |

| If I'm correct tho....AKC will not show on the AKC pedigree a Canadian CH...my Radar is both AKC and CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registared and has both Championships but does not show which of his grandsire's and grandam's as CH in Canada that is on the offical AKC pedigree. AKC will not show a Canadian CH on the pedigree..at least they don't on Radar's certified pedigree with AKC...now you can do a pedigree with a pedigree program to show both AKC and CKC champions along with other foreign CH's...I hope this helps also... On Radar's AKC papers it doesn't show his CKC# Donna Bird Brooklynn's Yorkshire Terriers |

| I looked at my pedigree and all that is listed as ch are the AKC dogs. However, the other dogs do have the CKC number under their names. All my Durrers and Squirrel dogs have the ckc under them. Dang, shame those don't show up on the research pedigrees in red. When I first got this dog, I inquired to the CKC about getting a pedigree from them and it is soooooooooo expensive. |

You can also pedigrees from AKC and can do this on line as well. AKC will reciprocate with other sister chapters in other countries - they follow the same rules as AKC reason they reciprocate. Check out the ones that do here on AKC site: American Kennel Club - Special Registry Services see Canadian Kennel Club. This is why you can get a Canadian registered (CKC) dog and then send in the paperwork to get his/hers AKC registration or visa versa. T. Last edited by topknot; 05-30-2009 at 05:56 AM.
