| Mated but No Pups??? Hi USA! My Stud dog (Buddy) a very proven stud dog, mated with a bitch last year, but i was told she did not have any pups. Perhaps this was due to her condition, she was 6 years old, needed worming and fatteening up, which i told the owner to do. Its been over a year now, and they contacted me a week ago to say that she did not come into season and could they bring there other Yorkie. Firstly, i ve been thinking,' how do i know if they are telling me the truth? or are they trying to get a Free Service from me due to their bitch not conceiving? Just want some advice at what i should do. Secondly, they brought the other bitch to me, again in poor condition, not ready to mate, and i informed them to worm her, get her coat washed (she lives outside on a farm!) I stressed the bitch must be in tip top condition to breed. I asked to see Vaccination Card but they said they forgot it and would bring it next time. DO I HAVE TO GIVE A FREE SERVICE TO ANOTHER BITCH????? THEY PAID THE STUD FEE ON THE FIRST TIE. TKS |

| no you do not have to give her a free breeding to another bitch. Most stud contracts (I hope you had one) state that the repeat breeding is to the same bitch. |

| Sounds like I agree with Dee on this one.. but must add.. I would not use my male on a female that I did not think or feel was the right female for breeding.. It is your male.. and why just stud out a male.. to me would to better a breeder... not just to breed.. |

| My contract states that you must have proof from the vet in writing if the breeding doesn't take place. Was she brucellosis tested first? That can cause a mismate.

| mated no pups ok thanks for that, so i dont have to give a free service to the othr female, and i would need proof that there were no pups from the vet. Wat if they ask me for the stud fee to be returned? |

| if you have proof from the vet that no pups were conceived, then yes, you do need to return the money unless she brings you the same bitch back. |

| I would refuse due to the shape her dogs are in. I would also tell her that's the reason.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | If I had proof from the vet that the first bitch did not have pups then I would breed the other bitch for them. I had a bitch only have one pup and it was stuck in and died. I told them I would breed her again with no charge if they wanted. In my contract one pup is a litter but I felt bad for her and thought it was the right thing to do. I would not return the money. Alot more goes into breeding than just having pups. I spend alot of time and sleepless nights trying to breed. If my male is proven then I would assume it is the female. I would feel my stud and myslef done their job and desveres to be paid. I would not breed this bitch due to her health and not having a vet record.

| I wouldn't provide them with stud service simply because their breeding ethics seem questionable and it doesn't sound like they care for their dogs properly. As the stud owner, YOU also have the responsibility to do what is in the best interest of the breeding pair--which, IMO would NOT include breeding to a 6 year old female who should be retired or any dogs that don't appear to be properly cared for. Also, as it was mentioned earlier, generally, the if you provide stud service for free the second time, it's usually to the same bitch. |

| You need to be the responsible side of this debate, if you give her stud service you can also be responsible for the maltreatment that is also nearly certain to occur in this situation. Like I said before, I would tell her NO and also give her the reason, that her dogs aren't cared for properly, they live outside on a farm and you don't feel that she knows enough about breeding or the responsibilities of owning this type of dog. Not going to even go to the point of if the dogs are even to the standard or if they have proper vet care, it could go on and on. This is a no brainer to me.
