| Do you have a clamp or something to hold onto the cord with (washcloth...) so that the afterbirth and cord do not go back into the Mom? |

| Is the cord still attached to the puppy? If it is or isn't it should come out with another contraction.

| PS IF it doesn't come out she will need to go the vet and get a shot of oxytocin to "clean her out" or she will get a very bad infection. Good luck with mommy and babies!!

| the puppy is completely out now, but the afterbirth didn't come out....so I will be taking her to the vet in the morning. Also, the puppy looks as if the umbilical cord is thicker at the bottom, at her belly....I am afraid that her intestines will come out....anything I can do?

| I think its probably just a hernia I tie each cord with a piece of dental floss. I don't think that the pup will move around too much before you can get them to the vet tomorrow. It should be okay. Maybe she will have another contraction. If you have a latex glove, put a little vaseline on the pinky tip, and carefully slide it into your girl. Make sure you don't have a fingernail too long that it could hurt her. Just a little, not to far will sometimes cause another contraction. |

| Talked to the vet by phone, and she said to bring her in tomorrow morning if the placenta doesn't come out tonight. Thank you everyone!!

♥ Catherine My Love ♥ Donating Member | How did she do at the vet? We had a feamle a month ago that had the same issue. We got her to deliver the placenta the next day, but she still ended up with a very bad infection.
