update on my Nala... help!! Ok... I posted about a week ago asking how I can tell if my girl was pregnant. Many people said that she may be experiencing a pseudo pregnancy. I have not been able to take her to see the vet because he is on vacation but on top of her vulva being swollen and her nipples getting bigger she is now lactating and she threw up twice this morning. As I said before I was not intending for her to be pregnant this early on as she will be a year old on March 30. I also have not done any reading on the subject yet because i didnt expect it. When she was in heat i kept her away from Simba (our male yorkie) for 5 weeks after she stopped bleeding and all throughout the blood flow as well. I am so confused. please tell me with the added info of her lactating and throwing up.... do you think she is pregnant? Do pregnant dogs get morning sickness? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hello, if your 100% sure she didnt not mate with your male, I believe that is pseudo-though I am by no means an expert. What ways did you keep them apart?

Anyways... I dunno. I have never seen a pseudo pregnancy and this is the first time i have had a male and female at the same time. I know simba tries to get on her all the time and Im wondering if maybe she got pregnant even though she didnt have a blood flow? | |

I heard about my sister-in-law's dog (not a yorkie) was having pseudo pregnancies. She'd lactate, gather up all of her toys and even try to nurse them. If this dog could lactate without having been bred, then I'd say yes she can lactate and show other physical symptoms of pregnancy.

maybe there is another vet around that is open on weekends and you could take her to get checked just to ease your mind. or maybe you could get a stethoscope and see if you hear tiny puppy heartbeats in the horns.

How big is your female? If she did somehow get pregnant, based on your time line, she would probably be due anytime. It is not unusual for them to get milk with a false pregnancy. If she is pregnant she should have a bulging belly, even with one puppy, unless she is a big bitch. Also you would be feeling strong movement. I feel like if you have any doubt you should take her to a vet. Any vet would be able to tell you if she is pregnant.
