how can i get her to drink more? Hi all just a qauestion that i hope someone can help with....Gez had her puppies 6 days ago and has been eating well, pooing, peeing and generally is in excellent health....coping with motherhood extremely well....coming out the box at various intervals during the day and night to sit with us and have cuddles.....and so far ive been feeding her wet puppy food with a moisture content of at least 71% plus adding a bit of water to it and mixing it b4 she eats it.....she also is having fresh meat (chicken, turkey or minced beef) every other day wHich i hand feed her after diping each bit in a bol of water...... She wont drink the water out of her bowl but will happily guzzle lactol (milk replacer here in uk)...now as the lactol is made with boiled water and a couple of scoopfuls of milk should i be concerned about the amount of liquid she is having (i.e. is it enough?) I tried adding stock cubes to the water and she turned her nose up..but she will drinks some if i offer it to her off my fingers, im just not sure thats its enough She's not dehydrated in the least and wee is coming out in good quantity!! and I admit b4 and during pregnancy I never really saw her deink a lot anyway but its just playing on my mind that she should be guzzling water down Can anyone advise me pls thanks debi

It sounds like she is getting a lot of water, with the canned food moisture and water added, plus the lactol. If you think she should have more try putting the chunks of canned food in a bowl and add water to allmost cover it. She will drink the water to get the canned food.

do you have well water? I do here and once I began feeding my dogs filtered water, like what my family drinks, I have seen her more likely to drink more water. I am sure she's drinking some though because she probably knows what she's doing. Are you anywhere near Basingstoke? My sister is dating a Pro-hockey player who has been there for several months now, just curious.
