I would think that the stud owner would pass on a stud fee. My contract states two or more live, healthy, saleable puppies.

With toy breeds, you always need to take into consideration when entiring into a contract, that there is always a possibility of one puppy being born.
I hope he is fair and just accepts a stud fee. From the sounds of it, he is just looking for a teeny tiny girl to breed, and may not be interested in a male at all, since he has one already.
If you breed again, I would personally look elsewhere for a stud.

thank you im totoally bothered by his comment on wanting the runt female! i would have run away from that guy. sounds like he is someone breeding runts to runts for the so called "teacup"

talk to him, offer him some money and be done with him! and im not sure it would be smart to breed her again jmo

I was hoping for a better update; I'm sorry that you lost the other puppy!

We had a similar situation with Sicily's first litter- Her first was stuck in her birth canal, and was dead when we finally got him out. We rushed her to the vet for a c-section ($$$) and came home with one little girl. We couldn't think of giving her up, and still have her.

In the future though, I think that paying the stud fee is always a better deal than pick of the litter, and especially with the guy that sounds like he just wanted a smaller female. I hope your dog is doing well!

thank you all for the responses. we are doing much better now. Sophie is finally on her way back to eating and playing. The owner didn't charge me a thing and you all have taught me alot. I will make different choices next time. I think I will try it again but not definite yet. that was so heart breaking to watch Sophie go through. All is much better now and thanks to all of you I have new education on my little yorkie. Sherry
