Waiting on the puppies to come!

Rose, Chizziewink ALWAYS whelps in bed - under the covers plastered up next to my leg or my husband's leg. It is such a honor to know that she is that comfortable with us that she wants to share her babies with us.

It really works well, actually. I gather up a bunch of clean washable potty pads plus a few disposable ones, towels, a wet washcloth, wet wipes, a good hot cup of coffee and some snacks for me), plus all of the normal whelping supplies and settle in. I become a "whelping prisoner" and until the pups have safely arrived and have nursed I don't leave the bed. I can see exactly what is going on, watch contractions and can detect problems immediately.

If I have my way, my girls will always whelp in bed.

Cindy....I was just teasing Kim because of all the pics I've seen of her dogs in her bed lately..LOL I actually remember reading about others having their dogs whelp on their bed.....as long as there are plenty of towels & such to protect the mattress, it'd be more comfortable than sitting on the floor with them. Hmmmm, I may have to try that next time.

You guys are too much, Rose you can say anything to me, cause I will get even with you, you may have a big box on your front porch one day soon with 2 grown boys in it I don't care where she has them, as long as we don't have to do another c-section( Lexie had 2) she can have them anywhere

No, no, no.....One intact male chasing after Halle is enough for me....and her too, I'm sure. Even my neutered Lucky was trying to "get lucky" when Halle was in heat last month. So I think we'll just leave it at that, thank you very much

LOL! I know what you mean! Lily's last whelp I was down on my hands and knees on our tile floor. After awhile I got a blanket and pillow. Later I noticed how sore my knees where...and bruised! I have Rosie set up to whelp in a much more comfortable location! I learned!
