It really works well, actually. I gather up a bunch of clean washable potty pads plus a few disposable ones, towels, a wet washcloth, wet wipes, a good hot cup of coffee and some snacks for me), plus all of the normal whelping supplies and settle in. I become a "whelping prisoner" and until the pups have safely arrived and have nursed I don't leave the bed. I can see exactly what is going on, watch contractions and can detect problems immediately.
If I have my way, my girls will always whelp in bed.  |
Cindy....I was just teasing Kim because of all the pics I've seen of her dogs in her bed lately..LOL I actually remember reading about others having their dogs whelp on their bed.....as long as there are plenty of towels & such to protect the mattress, it'd be more comfortable than sitting on the floor with them. Hmmmm
