| I need help with my first breeding!! I have been doing a lot of research and wanted to be as ready as possible for anything that might happen during whelping. if anyone has good advice or a website that I can go to that talks about how to prevent complications please let me know. I want to start now before I even breed her to make sure she and her puppies come out healthy. I also really wanted to maybe go and personally watch, help, and learn during a whelping if a breeder would let me. please let me know if anyone here knows anyone in houston that might have puppies soon. my little girl will be ready to breed in January and I already have the stud lined up so I just want to educate myself as much as possible to be ready for anything. thanks Kara |

| Learning all you can BEFORE you breed her is definately the way to go. Sounds like you are on the right track. Sorry, I don't know of any breeders in your area to refer you to, but best of luck to you. And welcome to YT! |

| Very Smart on your part to learn everything you can before breeding. I unfortunately can't help you with any breeders in your area, but I do want to point out a website. Canine Reproduction Video and Book on Breeding and Whelping dogs by Debbie Jensen for dog breeders and Whelping Supplies needed to deliver puppies. She is amazing!!! Very knowledgable and a lot of information on her website. As far as the tail docking and dewclaws...... If you think you have the stomach for it, go for it! I don't do my own, I have my vet do it.... but if you learn how to do it and think you can, do it. Some breeders on the site do do it themselves and could give your direction on how to do it yourself. Best of luck to you and I hope that website helps. and Welcome to YT! Gail
