Pregnant Beauty...
 
Ok so I have a yorkie that had her period around Oct. 14th and locked Oct. 28. By the sounds of it I will be having a new years baby or around the 30th of Dec. I have mentors that I have learned from.

She is small (4.8lbs pregnant) and my vet says she is healthy and may have 2 babies possibly one. I have all the necessary supplies for the proper whelping kit & a huge thick vet book on dogs.

My question... She has a slight creamy discharge clear to cloudy. Is this normal? She is so cute and waddles when she walks.... I plan on keeping one of her babies and a family member will have the other...

A clear or slightly creamy discharge is normal. The discharge will get more noticeable and sometimes gooey as she gets closer to delivery. Best of luck with the whelping. We would love to see pictures of your little girl.

That's awfully small to be breeding. I pray that all goes well and you don't lose the pups or the mother

My mentor breeds (almost 40years - breeding) 2.5lbs and 3lbs dogs which I also have 2 of those. :rolleyes:

I'm not trying to be mean. Why would someone ever breed 2.5 and 3 lb dogs? I have a 6 mo old that is 1 1/2 lbs, and even to add a pound to her, there is no way on Gods green earth, I would ever take a chance of breeding her, let alone a 3 lb dog and take a chance of losing the mother dogs..Sorry, but, I think that's just irresponsible to ever do that!

I didn't come here to here negativity but to hear the thoughts of others that are very experience with this. There is a breeder in the family however I figured the yorkie forum would be a better place for my little questions.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion. I have micros smaller dogs, whatever you wish to call them. One is AKC registered... The breeder that does breed these dogs is very well experienced and knows what he is doing.

I am proud to own 2 of these little babies that he breeds! :) Three in total...

Breeding extremely small dogs--"micros" as you call them--in greatly frowned upon by the majority of the educated Yorkie community as well as the members of YT. I'm sorry to say, but if your intent is puposely breed extremely small girls, I doubt you will find very much support from the members here who also "know what they are doing."

Thanks but no thanks.... My female that is pregnant is just under 5lbs. SHe hasn't been weighted in 2weeks so could be more. Like I said above I'm not here for negativity. JUst wanted help from those who cared.

I would never do anything to hurt or harm any of my pets. There are some people out there that like huge dogs while others like smaller dogs. Some breeders breed larger one and so on. I love smaller dogs and do have an 8lb. yorkie. So to your statement...I am not a breeder and am not doing this for size. Thanks for you info.

Anyone that breeds a dog wheither it be one time or multiple times is a breeder so you are a breeder

You said she was 4 lbs 8 oz. which is 4 1/2 lbs. I know women that have lost their females giving birth that were bigger than that. You're endangering your mother, and sorry, but, that IS irresponsible. Responsible breeders never breed dogs under 5 lbs.
