I was actually thinking about the "mentor" that you so adamately defended who you claim breeds 2-3 pound girls with my comment. You may not be breeding such extremely small dogs, but you have made it evident that you support those who do.

The members here voice their concern regarding tiny girls being bred because we DO care.

And yes, you have bred your dog, so you ARE a breeder.:rolleyes:

My female is now 5.3lbs. (I used a digital kitchen scale to weigh her)

Ladies (and gentlemen), this person came to this forum for advice, not to be ridiculed for posting a question that was an attempt to learn. We all need to remember the learning curve we ALL went through when we first started out. Home page says "we are a friendly bunch".

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: THANK YOU!!!! I was just about to jump in also. Correct me if im wrong but I do believe her OP was to ask about a discharge. Not to be ridiculed about her mentors choices. :) Everyone has to start somewhere. Best of luck to you and your mommy to be and my prayers are with you! Please keep us updated and post pictures of mom and babies, I would love to see them!

I am new and felt that I wanted to say something but held back , thank you for posting for this lady..I also posted something about my son's dog being pregnant it was an accidend and got a pretty rough answer, as a newbie I feel that I did not come here to be judge, all I wanted is a little bit of knowledge and frienship because I feel a bit confused and concerned about my son's dog too..

Is "don't breed extremely small females" not a valid, good piece of advice? Something that not everyone starting out would know? Seems like pretty solid advice to me. Oh, and the OPs question WAS already answered...in case that was missed.;)

Geesh folks, there are some harsh replies here :confused:. My impression of Leesha is that she came here seeking advice, has spent some time learning, and is OPEN to more learning.

I think it's always great to educate, always, but please do so with some kindness, an open mind, and an intention to *help*. Otherwise, we just alienate the very people who could benefit the most from all of your wonderful expertise! :) :) :)

yes,is very solid, sometimes what we type can be read with the wrong feel and then it sounds judmental. I am guessing that is what is happening here, maybe something like... you know we don't beleive breeding extremely small females is right to do, but since yours already IS pregnant, then.. etc...etc..... remember that we are reading on the other side of the monitor and the person has feelings. just my little opinion on this.

Maybe the harsh comments were the result of the way the OP responded when advised in a simple manner about breeding smaller Yorkies. :cool: Sorry, I just found it a bit concerning that someone is following breeding advice of someone breeding 2.5-3 pound dogs and who sees no problem with it. :( And unless I'm reading things incorrectly, this dog's age is quite concerning too...bred at only 10 months old!?

I would like to offer my apologies for posting in this thread at all. In the future, when I read about situations that contain as what I interpret as areas of concern such as this one, I will try to refrain from posting. It amazes me that people can speak out adamately about breeding extremely small, young dogs, referring to them as teacups, etc in some instances, but then in other cases, it's not acceptable. LOL...one day I will figure it out... :p My apologies to anyone I upset.

Sadly, this thread is a prime example of why so many breeders refuse to offer advice in the Breeder Section anymore. :(

I just read your thread regaring your situation with your little preggers girl. None of the answers I saw were at all judgmental or 'rough' so I'm assuming the one you are referring to was deleted. For what it's worth, I don't think that given your particular situation, you could be doing anything better for your little one than what you are doing already. I hope that all goes smoothly for her and that she is on her feet, spayed with a healed knee soon.

Personally, I think your posts, Misty, are often some of the *most* educational here - and I enjoy them. I also appreciate all of the effort you make in helping newbies too. I hope you never refrain from posting. I don't think your posts were rude in this thread at all.

I think some folks need to temper their harshness though - or we won't be able to educate newbies about the important things. Some won't learn no matter what, but some do - and that's where all of your efforts really pay off. :)
