| Help please I just noticed today my puppies are eating poop. Does any one have experience with this? If so can someone tell me why, or what I can do to prevent it? I check on them all the time and keep their area clean. Any suggestions? |

| I wouldn't give pineapple to puppies that young. I dont know what to tell you to do about the eating of the poo though.

| You can talk to your vet and ask him why he recommends since your pups are so young. |

| I wouldn't worry about it at this point. Sometimes nature is just nature. Mom will eat their poop, so maybe she is slacking and they are just trying to help. My pups are 12 weeks old and I just realized mom is still cleaning up after them. The pups haven't snacked that I have seen, but even when they are healthy - little things (medicine and such) can adversly affect their little systems.

| diet What are they eating now? Add some cottage cheese to their dry...pick a good quality dry and I soak mine in canned goats milk from the store. Spray bitter apple on some of the poop and leave it out for a bit..it will turn them off to it as a rule. It is a puppy thing unfortunately..but i never understood how a puppy can eat poo and have a spit attack over something like mint flavored Kaopetate. LOL |

| Mom was done with them at two and a half weeks. She still cleaned and nursed but stopped that as soon shortly thereafter. I do put her in the crate with them at night so they still get a little nursing in. The pup that I noticed doing that was the biggest one. She seems to suddenly have started it. She rushed to eat one as I was trying to clean it up. Pat they are eating soaked Inova puppy food, I gave them some goat's milk a few times but it seemed to give them diarrhea. Still I will try both suggestions you gave. Do you find that discourages them from eating it? I was thinking of the bitter apple spray also Oh I agree with you about the spit attack over the mint... lol. Thank you Diana |

| Wouldn't they be a bit to young for that? It is a great idea though |

| Yes, I think tobasco sauce is hot too...why I don't use it. Well maybe for dogs but I really think these pups are to young for anything hot. On the other hand they love the cottage cheese in the soaked dry food. I will just have to watch and try to correct it... maybe go get some bitter apple today. Thank you all for your suggestions. I appreciate them! I am enclosing a picture of the main offender...lol |
