| Hi,I have a question?? Hello all, I need to ask a question. My female and male yorkies mated and tied on August 12. I calculated that my female should have babies around the 14th of October. Today would be here 57th day pregnant. She is a rather long and larger yorkie , about 7-8 pounds. My male is much smaller and only 3-4 pounds. Her nipples are very swollen and hanging and her vulva doesn't seem to have gone down. I am not sure she is pregnant, but I am hoping. I was wondering, if the male would know that she is pregnant. He seems to sniff her area alot and when they go out to potty he sniffs her pee and then pees on top of it. I was told, he does this because she is giving off a strong scent because of pregnancy. Can this be correct? I know I will have to seperate them when she goes into labor. I just wanted to know if he knows she is gonna have babies. Thanks , Mary |

| I have been reading up about it and my Aunt is an expert at breeding Yorkies. She gives me advice and if I need help she will be there for me. I just wondered how the male acts around a pregnant female. He just acts sniffy, like when she was in heat. I thought 57 days was to late to do an x ray? Thanks for the help. Mary |

| If I wanted to call my Aunt I would. I just thought I would ask, since all you are supposed to know these things, and me being a first timer and all. If you don't want to answer the question, why post at all. This is the reason, I never post anything on here. I thought Yorkie lovers had respect for each other and try to help when someone needs it. Gee, I guess I was wrong. |

| So, when you started breeding then you knew everything you needed and didn't need to ask any questions what so ever? I don't think everyone that starts to breed never needs to ask a question. I don't think that you knew it all. I just wanted a simple answer to a simple question. Just forget I asked. I will go elsewhere to find the answer. |

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Xrays are most accurate when they are taken at about 1 week prior to whelping. That way the pups bones are calcified enough to show up well on the xray.

| 57 days is NOT too late for an x-ray. I ususally do it between 55 and 58 days. I do think the male KNOWS she is pregnant. From what I understand, when dogs smell other dogs pee spots they learn all kinds of things about the dog thet pee'd there first, like what sex the dog is, if it is healthy, etc.
