It is necessary only because people who share your oppinion and do not understand genetics are out there questioning the validity of these dogs as purebred. |

Aren't you against the use of words like Designer? I do not ever use that word to describe my dogs. Designer is a word used by people mixing dogs to make them sond exotic to try to bring more money for a mutt. All of my dogs are purebred yorkies bred to purebred yorkies. With DNA testing done by the AKC to back that statement. All of my males and All of my females are DNA tested as well even though AKC only requires the males be tested. |
acording to what I was reading in my yorkie book, If the breed was actually "found?" in 1980, Dont you think that the breed itself is to young to actually assume is completely developed? Perhaps, it is still developing its traits. Therefore the standars are due to change. Only time will tell. I hope to be alive by then. |

Effective for litters whelped on or after July 1, 2000, AKC DNA Profiling is required if a stud dog is classified as a Frequently Used Sire, meaning that he has produced seven or more litters in his lifetime or more than three litters in a calendar year. |
