YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Has she been to the vet yet for her after birth checkup? I sugest you have her calicum levels checked. Watch her closely, if she seems to be worsening, take her to the vet ASAP.

| It may be that she's just hot. She's got 8 (wow!) puppies all against her and she's probably getting some heat from the heating pad. Try placing the pad so Mom can nurse the babies without being on the pad herself. Also, they can drink like camels at this time so keep plenty of water down for her. |

| Wow! Has she been drinking? Does she have a fever? Is she lethargic? Is she taking care of the pups (nursing AND stimulating to potty)? Have you taken her outside to pee? Please let us know how she is doing.

| My gals always pant after they have whelped. There is alot of body heat going on and she is still working pretty hard. Take her temp daily, make sure she has plenty of fresh water and give her breakfast in bed. She has earned it!

| panting is normal after whelping. Uterus is shrinking back down. Be sure she is able to get off heating pad and has lots of water. |

| Jolie' Hi...thanks for the responses....She has water...she is drinking a little...she isn't on the heating pad...she is nursing the puppies. She is very tenative to all of us...she goes to the potty too. I think it is uteras shrinking.

| Our girls all pant on and off after whelping...Their uterus is contracting down to the normal size and her body is working at making milk... Take her temp a couple times a day for a couple weeks to make sure she is not getting an infection or eclampsia...Make sure she can lay off of the heating pad if she needs to...Sounds like she is doing great!..Congrats!

| So glad to hear that things sound "normal". Normal is so under-rated sometimes and is sure appreciated in times like this. Congratulations on your HUGE litter. How are the babies doing? Are they all nursing well?

| Hi...we just got back from the vet with Jolie' and puppies. Jolie' has a little infection...she has some green discharge so he put her on an antibotic and he feels she should be fine....the puppies are really doing well. He was so shocked when we told him how many she had! He checked everyone of them and he says these are some really healthy puppies. I weighed them and they all gained about an ounce. The vet says she is a really awesome mom. We are all so proud of her. Sha!! He docked the puppies tails and dew claws were removed. He said her panting is normal and all is really good for Jolie'. Keep us in your prayers so all stays going well.

| Question Last night during hte night Jolie' was moving her puppies. She had 2 on a bed pillow and 2 others on another bed and then I woke up so she was stopped. Why do they do this....what should I do?

| Glad that the vet caught the infection early. As far as her bedding and moving the puppies...take that pillow out. Take out anything the puppies can get stuck under....Mamma won't get them out of a deadly situation. If she is moving them a lot, she is nervous about something. Make sure it is a quiet area with no draft whatsoever. If she can hear other dogs barking, put some soft music on for her. What do you have her in? Covering the sides and top will make her more secure. You have to check frequently though to make sure a pup isn't underneath her or anything else. Don't have a lot of blankets or jumbled up stuff in her area. Make sure Jolie is put out frequently to pee...she will feel the urge a lot more frequently during the first week to a week and a half. Hope I'm not running on too much. Feel free to PM me with ANYTHING, I'll help in any way I can. I'm so happy that all of your EIGHT babies are healthy and thriving. That size of litter is stunning!
