YT 1000 Club Member | Totally befuddled. Okay here goes. Maggie had a litter of pups, then the next time she came into heat it was a split heat and she was bred. The vet did the palpitation and cinfirmed she was pregnant, she gained weight had morning sickness and her vulva was still swollen. Then I noticed she wasn't eating as much the swelling went down so i took her to the vet and they did xrays. Nothing there. So it was either a false pregnancy or she reabsorbed the puppies. What has me befuddled is this according to what I have read and long time breeders she should have gone back into heat roughly 166 days from the first day of her last cycle. As of today she still has not come into heat. Her 1st heat was in November of '06 ( 7 mos) 2nd heat was May '07 she was bred had puppies August 1 '07 started heat 31st of October went to Jan 7th and then stopped she had her vaccines the day before she stopped then she started a full heat the 18th of Jan '08 the day she had dental work done. bred on the 31 st Jan and 1st & 2nd of Feb Threw up in th 12th and 20th of feb palpitation was done 28th so in about a week she was no longer pregnant. So now I am trying to figure out if she isn't in heat now because of the interruptions or if she will go into heat soon or what is going on.

| cycle When breeders say.."the book says"...the problem is..the bitch does not read the book. Some things regarding breeding cannot be figured out...she will come into season when her body is ready and I know of no healthy way to hurry it along...you just wait. Perhaps, another breeder has a more insightful answer...I am open to learning. PS..if she were mine, I would put her with other bitches in season and keep her around a male.. | problem I realize it can be a problem when you do not have a fair number of dogs...sometimes I would board a bitch for a friend with this problem, sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not...I hope others have a more solid answer for you. |

| Pat is correct. All yorkies are different and each heat cycle can be different. Over the years I have only had a couple of females that came in heat every 6 months. Most will come in every 7 to 8 months. Hopefully your girl will come in soon. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Thank you both, I guess I will just keep waiting and see what happens. I think however if she doesn't come back into heat by the end of the year I will more than likely have her spayed next year. Then I will only have the one female for awhile.
