WooHoo........ Sunnie is here! You've got one more whelping experiance under your belt than I do so I'm glad you're here to help. |
Zoe's sister.. what is your name? You need to stay as calm as possible. Zoe is wanting her Mommy there and I aimagine she is scared even more to be with someone else while delivering. So you staying calm will help her out. Make sure she is in a warm quite spot, I would not leave her in the crate with the door closed. You need to be able to help with the cords and clearing their throats and nostrils. Make sure there are no drafts. she is not panting because she is hot. It is her way of dealing with the pain. You may need to lay down beside her with her laying in her bedding and you lay by her and talk calmly to her. |
My name is Tara btw...no action yet.. she just keeps turning over on her back and i keep pettin on her... ill post if i need anything.. thanks everyone! |
If your boyfriend is there, have him update us please. |
I think we are okay right now.. she is calming down alot. i am staying with her.. im gonna give her a little water and see if she wants it...Im heading back in! |
Tara, I want to ask a few questions so I can help you more. How big is Zoe normally?? do you know her weight? Is this her first litter? Do you know if your sister had her x-rayed? do you have any idea how many puppies she will be having? Did she leave you the vet's number? Do you know how to send a PM? can you PM me your number so I can call if you need emergency help? I won't call until you tell me you need the help. |
WoW It's people like you who come on here to help others that make this site so wonderful! Way to go Ladies :clapsmile |
Tara, one thing you can give her that she will like is vanilla ice cream. It helps with the whelping |
Oh gosh, I sure hope this goes o.k. With my first litter, I knew Caty was going to have her babies but I had to go to work (it was either go or get fired). I took Caty to spend the day at my vet's, who was also a breeder of Yorkies. She wasn't comfortable at the vet's, obviously, as she didn't have her babies even though by all signs she should have. Well, within 10 minutes of getting her home and settled in, she started her delivery. Everything went fine and she had 3 healthy babies. I'm only saying this to re-enforce just how important it is to have the mom calm and relaxed. Stay with her, talk with her, rub her belly a bit if that's what she wants. Just keep mom calm....she's very needy and vulnerable now and misses her mommy. You can do it...just don't get excited and show her any nervousness. She'll pick up on it. Good luck with everything. :aimeeyork :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :animal-pa :) |
Okay Sunnie.. Im not sure on any of your questions!...Im so sorry! I THINK that she is usually about 7lbs and Wendy said she is now 9lbs.. maybe.. I know the vets number but they wouldnt be much help. our vet is pretty sorry... she hasnt had her xrayed.. i this is her third or fourth litter... 3rd..probably..I will p.m. you my number so that you can call .. She just drunk a little water and she is kinda squirmming around in her box.. her whelpin box is a rubbermaid container so i can reach her good.. i am staying right with her.. i have my laptop beside me... |
Wow...this is really something! I am glad you are here to help ladies. I hope when my time comes you will be close by. :) |
Tara, don't worry. What you HAVE answered helps so much. I am sure she will have them effortlessly. As Woogieman said, the way she is acting is like she really should be having them, but she may be trrying NOT to because she wants her mom. Can you place your hand on her sides? does it feel hard? do you notice any leaking?? |
No leaking.. but she is licking herself a bit... i can feel the puppies between her ribs and hind leg... she keeps rollin on her back and i am rubbin her belly.. I think she will do fine.. im alot calmer now so thanks everyone for the words of encouragment! |
