Hey everyone. We just got home. Zoe was soo happy to see me and I was just overjoyed to be holding her in my arms. I came so close to loosing her and I'm just so thankful she is okay. When we came home, she went straight to my little girls room and picked up a beanie baby and packed it around to her bed. Now she is digging in her bed and crying trying to get the baby underneath her. She is breaking my heart. She can't understand why she doesn't have babies. Any advice on what to do to her to ease her mourning? |
Hey Wendy, I just went through this with Chloe. Its good that Zoe "adopted" a beanie baby. Chloe wouldnt take to anything other than one of my Nike sneakers. She slept with it and kinda cuddled with it for a few days. As I believe YorkieRose told me, her hormones remind her of the pups. Chloe would run around like crazy looking for the puppies. She even ran circles around my car - my car was the last place she saw them alive before we went to the ER vet. From my experience, the best you can do is just give her extra love, make sure she is eating something, and let her play with the beanie babies or whatever it is at the moment. It can be quite heartbreaking, I know. However, you will be pleasantly surprised within a few days as Zoe will return to normal and her hormones calm down. Also, watch her nipples for mastitis. Because the pups barely took any milk from Chloe, the vet told me that there was a smaller chance that she would develop mastitis and I am assuming the same goes for Zoe. Nonetheless, keep an eye open and make sure she is getting some food down. |

and give her a lot of extra love and attention and she will soon get back to her normal self. I am happy she is home now. |
Just an update on Zoe...her incision site is looking great. She has been resting alot since she has been home. She has adopted two little babies that she even tries to nurse. She will not hardly leave them. I think it is odd that she has taken to two of them and that's how many puppies she would have had. It breaks my heart to watch her try to nurse them and lick them as if they were real. But she is really doing well thanks to you guys. Thanks so much for encouraging me to call and take her in to the vet. Without you guys, my Zoe would have not made it! I truely appreciate you all for everything..the encouraging words, the sleep you lost right along with me and the uplifting words you sent when things didn't go like I would have liked. Thanks again to you all!:) |
So happy to hear that Zoe is home and recovering. Lil' Miss Izzie sends her puppy kisses & hugs. :kiss3::kiss3: |
