I'm so glad everything is OK. I posted information last night from Dr. Larry, you might want to go and check out the web site I attached. You may also find more information that is helpful. I'm so glad it worked out OK. |

Thank you, Jeri. I will definitely check it out. |
Congratulations Nancy on the birth of the pups! Glad the c-section turned out OK. There have been some real "interesting" births going on here lately... real "page turners". I am glad everything worked out well and can't wait to watch them grow. :) |
Couldnt what was seen be a disolved puppy since there was nothing in the birth canal? My friend had pups and one was disolved, and had a brownish yukky stuff, the other two were born, one died, and the third was ok I think you did the right thing, because unless you had a xray recently you could have had a pup stuck in the birth canal. Ive heard stories of vets having to actually cut the pup in half because it was so stuck. When my Kalani pushed for an hour and quit I knew it wasnt right, we jumped in the car and off to the vet to xray (we had done a sonogram). Sure enough the puppy was right there but its head was bigger than the birth canal, so Im so glad I went. Needless to say, Kalani was c sectioned and fixed. Congrats on your new babies, and good luck on your upcoming birth. |
Now it's Mazey's Turn! Mazey has a bubble out! I can't believe these two girls are going to deliver on the same day!! |
omg! I'm just reading your thread .......praying for a good whelping for your 2nd girl. And congratulations on your 2 newborn babies. Get some coffee out so you can be up and alert and cookies for energy. :) |

Thanks for the prayers! She and I will probably need them. The bubble just went almost all the way back in. No contractions, no panting. I don't drink coffee or caffeinated drinks, but the cookies sure sound good! LOL |
Wow are you busy today!!!! Congrats on the pups delivered earlier and best of luck with the recent whelp |
I, too, have been following your thread from the beginning. Prayers and hugs being sent your way. Hoping that everything turns out well for everyone. Glad to hear that Momma #1 and the pups are healthy. Sounds like another busy day for you. Please keep us posted. |

Wow! When it rains... |
Hows mama #2 doing? Hope all is going well, sending prayers your way for a healthy delivery. |
Mazey Update After two hours + of hard contractions and pushing Mazey also had a C-section (someone want to give me a loan??). The good news is she had FIVE PUPPIES!!!! They all weighed between 4 oz (smallest one) and 5 oz (biggest). She had three boys and two girls! I will post pictures probably tomorrow, I am just too beat and still have so much to do to get everybody settled in. Thank you everyone for your caring, support, prayers, positive thoughts, etc. It really helped. I think you are all so wonderful! |
Happy to hear both moms and babies are ok! C-sections are no fun, especially 2 in one day...but they happen all too much with this breed. Hope you get some sleep this evening...boy is your house gonna be a lot of fun in about 8 weeks...lol. |
I'm getting to this thread quite late, but relieved that everyone is doing well. Congratulations!! |
Congrats! I don't know if I could handle 2 sections in 1 day but guess that's' out of human control! You might give some thought to moving a puppy from the second girl to the first to help lessen the burden, 5 puppies is a lot! Of course it depends on the condition of the girls, their milk production, etc so think on it before doing it! |
Congratulations...! You have had some day! Wishing you all the best with both moms and their pups... :) |
wow! well I am just getting home and haven't been able to check on how things were going since I first saw this thread. What a day for you. I am glad everything turned out ok. 2 sections in one day would probably do me in as well. |
Congratulations on your two new litters. I am sorry the mommas had such a hard time. I pray momma and babies will do well. What is the size of these two females? |
congrats to you. I hope your able to get some rest now. |
wow what a day you had. Hope all is going well today. |
What a day you have had. Which vet did you use for the 2nd c section? Now maybe you can take a breath and watch those darling little puppies. Good Luck with the rest of the time. I know you have to be drained. |

I went to the local vet for the 2nd C-section. It was great (if you can call a C-section great). My 14 year old daughter got to come with me this time and help stimulate the pups, etc. She was so amazed at it all. I had been thinking about switching a pup or two to the other mom. The newest mom with the largest litter has some milk, but she hadn't really gotten into the mom mode yet. She just wanted to be with me and was very restless if I left the room. Finally last night I got her to lay down and nurse for quite awhile. She has ten nipples as opposed to the other mother's eight. The only problem is about six of those nipples are inverted and tiny. They still have milk in them, but the puppies can't really latch on. Her puppies have maintained their weight this morning, but if the don't start gaining today I will probably switch one or two. The first mom with only two pups has plenty of milk and very prominent teats. So unless she doesn't accept them adding a pup or two seems like the way to go. |

That is what I will probably end up doing. Do the surogate mothers ever have a hard time with accepting the new ones? |

Their normal weight is about five pounds. The one with the largest litter was a little on the slim side before pregnancy and now looks emaciated. The one with the smaller litter was a little overweight at the time of breeding (about 6 1/2 pounds). But she didn't gain a lot in her pregnancy and looks just fine now. That is another reason I am thinking about switching some pups. I don't want to stress the first one as she is SO skinny now. |
